Betta Safe fish include Rasboras, Danios, Black Neon Tetras, Guppies(not too fancy), Corys, sometimes Ghost Shrimp and other fresh water shrimp. Also a nice Nerite snail for algae control. All the fish should be kept in groups of 3-5 or more depending on the size of your tank. As always watch your betta, some are agressive to other fish, most are not aggressive at all to other fish.

Bettas are slow moving fish and stays most of the time near the surface of the water. You can keep them with other slow moving fishes, like corys and small tetras, swordtails and mollies would make a good company for bettas as well.

Beautiful beta's are gentle and non aggressive fish. Therefore do not put them in a tank with agressive fish. Also, do not put two male bata's together. They will fight to the finsish. Stick with a female beta.

Barbs are schooling fish and are also agressive fish. Your beta will not last long with barbs.

Neon's are gentle fish. There schooling fish and would work well with beta. You could problably have 10-12 neon's (or more) in your tank depending on how many fish you already have in your tank.

The number of fish you put in a tank depends on how large or small the tank is.

I like to see beta's in a community tank rather than in a small bowl like you so often see. They will also add color to your tank.

Go to SEARCH and ask for Beta or Fresh Water Tropical Fish Beta. They can give you all the information you are looking for better than I.

Have fun with your beta and the rest of your fish. They're fun and relaxing to watch. One of my daughter's beta fish would come and lay in her hand just below the water line. My discus fish likes me to talk to her in a low soft voice. We will play our little game of "peek-a-boo" when I put a small towel up against the glass and say "where is my beautiful" or "I can't see you" and she slowly peeks around the towel.

Hay, we all have our own way of having fun and relaxing at the same time.

You could also go to your nearest pet store where they sell beta's and ask about what kind of fish go well with beta's. Be sure this person you're talking to knows a lot about fish or just do a SEARCH.

Good fishing and have fun.

Bettas can be in poor water quality without any filteration, as they are surface air breathers. They're many times found in Asian countries in rice fields that can be very poor water quality, and even muddy.

Most other fresh water fish will have to have aeration of some sort to survive. If you don't have aeration, your only other option is small gold fish.

If you do have aeration, you can add other fish, but just nothing that will pick at the Betta's fins. You don't have to worry about the Betta picking on another fish, unless it's another Betta, and then they will fight to the death. Hope this helps.

Bettas don't really need company, they are perfectly happy alone, but if you want to get something that can live with your betta, just avoid any known fin nippers (pretty much any barb or tetra), because they will chew your betta to bits. Also avoid cold water fish like goldfish.

The best fish to live with bettas are small catfish, like cories or otos.

Depending on the size of your tank, I am going to guess it is a 5 gallon or less, you could not really add any more fish. You could try shrimp or African Dwarf Frogs though.

it mostly depends on the size of the tank -- anything 5 gallons or less he is better alone. mostly because not much can live in 5 gallons -- they like more space to swim. if you have a 10 gallon plant it up. bettas like plants. then you can add a school of anything that dosen't nip. contrary to popular opinion bettas get picked on more than they pick on other fish -- unless its another betta.
