We used to have the Kentucky Colonels of the ABA and the Cincinnati Royals of the NBA but both are gone. Any hope ???

No.

College basketball is too big in both cities to sustain an NBA team. There is not enough money or fans to support both.

I am going to be as honest as I can.... and the answer is...
NO TIME SOON.

I am an avid watcher of team movement, because as a citizen of Las Vegas I too hope for a team... any team. I'd take The Blazers in a second.

THERE are FIVE teams that could be MOVING.

1- The Seattle Supersonics
They want a new arena, and the Washington state legislature isn't gonna give it to them. Getting Durant may save any hope for a Seattle Based Sonic team. It should gather the attention of the local media, the national media, and perhaps most importantly the state legislature.

2- The Sacramento Kings
The Kings have always had ahigh level of fan support, but the Mallofs are getting frustrated with the franchise, if they move, Las Vegas would be their destination, thet wouldn't even have to change their name.

3- The New Orleans Hornets
Yes, the Hornet moved here only 4 years ago, but recent events must be accounted for, and it looks like the city may have a tough time supporting an NBA franchise. They have the 2008 All-Star game, that should keep them around a few more years.

4- The Memphis Grizzlies
They haven't gotten all the love that they'd hoped. They are an unlikely mover, but if the team is sold, moving seems inevitable.

5- The Portland TrailBlazers
IF THEY MOVE, it would be to SEATTLE, and that is if, and only if Seattle moves to OKlahoma City. What a tangled web I weave. Allow me to explain. PAUL ALLEN owns the Blazers. He lives in Seattle. He has more money than 299,999,998 of the 300,000,000 in the US (3rd most). Allen owns alot of downtown Seattle, and can secure land for an arena in his sleep. He also owns the SEATTLE SEAHAWKS. He loves his franchises, and a move to Seattle could happen.

Expansion Teams

The NBA has the option of adding two expansion teams. While it doesn't look like they will. It is still a possibility. Adding two teams would give them a nice number rounded number in 32, 16 teams for each conference, as opposed to the current odd number of 15. The NFL has 32 teams.

THE CITIES MOST LIKELY TO GET AN NBA TEAM:

1- Oklahoma City-
Like it or not, they did a great job supporting a sub-par New Orleans team for the last year nad a half. David Stern says they are next in line for a franchise.

2- Las Vegas-
The city itself has been constantly campaigning for a professional sports franchise, and has their sights set on the NBA. The 2 issues with Las Vegas were an arena and gambling. An arena is being built on the Las Vegas Strip as part of a new hotel, and gambling has become so easy on-line that the commish is slowly but surely giving in. Rumor has it, his second in command thinks Las Vegas is a perfect city. But I don't want the Kings. Actually if we did get the Kings I would go to every game, just to root against them.

3- Kansas City/St. Louis
Kansas City has an arena and is looking for a franchise to tenant. St. Louis has successfully held teams in the NFL, MLB, and NHL. They are looking to complete the pro-sports sweep. ONLY ONE of these cities would receive a franchise, as they are so near.

4- Really up for grabs, could be Cincinnati.
Got the NFL and the MLB, the city is capable of hosting an NBA team. They just need to find an OWNER WILLING TO MOVE THERE.

As for Louisville, Pitino and the Birds are the best you're gonna get. Louisville is one of the storied NCAA basketball programs, that gets the support similar to that of an NBA franchise. With the NBA and NCAA basketball seasons overlapping, it will never happen.

No...there's an prolonged record of communities previous to them. those are all cities that NBA vendors have expressed interest in: Aneheim, Las Vegas, San Diego. Seattle would be an exceedingly eye-catching desination as quickly because of fact the city gets their act jointly. then you rather've David Stern seeking to place 4 communities in Europe in the subsequent 10 years. So, sorry Louisville. you're a great city, even though it does not seem such as you would be getting an NBA Basketball team.

If you want one in Louisville, go ahead. Please don't send one here to Cincinnati.
