Why are people so cruel, shallow, and unopen minded these days?

Ok so I ask : Would you like fries, tots, or hash brown with that? and I get two stupid responses! The question was just for fun and nothing more!

She said: "you practicing for your dream job....huh"

I didn't say I was preparing for anything it was JUST a fun question to get 2 easy points! I'm just tired of people being mean! I'm not like that towards anyone...I just hate when people come here (and anywhere) with racism, and just pure hatred its so depressing it makes me think if its bad now what will it be like 10 years later? Why!? Why!? I know times are hard but darn don't take your anger out on others!

I'm 55, and I'm still asking myself this same question every day. I went through the idealistic 60s where we all thought that if we opened people's eyes to all the bigotry, racism, religious discrimination, and all the other ills of the world, things would turn around, and we could all learn to play in the same sandbox and get along like good boys and girls.

Was I ever wrong! I think, if anything, things have gotten worse, if that is possible. We not only still have the same type of lunkheads who have infected every age of man by thinking they are better than others because they are of a different race, or because they have a more lucrative job or other similar things, we now also have a ton of crybabies who can't have fun because they are so worried about political correctness that their god-given sense of fun has mysteriously departed from their bodies and left an empty shell that has forgotten how to smell the roses of life.

These are the people that whine whenever someone says something that "offends them" without basis, can't enjoy a good laugh, or CAN'T SEE THAT SOME OF THE QUESTIONS HERE ON "YAHOO ANSWERS" ARE MERELY MEANT TO BE A FUN SOURCE OF RELAXATION AS WELL AS A FRIENDLY WAY BY WHICH WE CAN INTERACT WITH ONE ANOTHER!

In all honesty, I think if I had created some of the people out there who can't allow themselves to see the humor in some things or the irony in others, I would simply recall them as defective products. (Hm...let's see; with that last statement, I most likely offended the religious right because I compared myself with a God-like entity that can create life, judge it, then recall it, and I probably also made light of some people out there by calling them humor-deprived! Now that is surely bound to upset some group somewhere that is proud of their lack of a funny bone, and wants us all to be like them! I will now most likely receive hate emails sent to my address from members of the "We Won't Allow Dancing, Joking, or Laughing Society" somewhere, huh?

Oh, well....I can honestly say I don't care if I offend them any more, because if I don't offend them, I'm sure I'll offend someone else - it's a truly tiring and endless circle if one thinks about it.... :-(

PowerpuffCutie 24 (Love your name, by the way), don't worry about why some people are the pathetic, easily-offended, humorless automatons they are these days, just go ahead and ask your sometimes just-for-fun questions because there are enough of us out here that will hopefully come up with an answer for you that will make you laugh. This isn't one of them, but hey! We're discussing idiocy here, not humor! :-)

Not much really. I try to help people that need it. I keep up with the news, but we have elected officials that are paid to worry about things like that. As for the elected officials, I'll vote for the person that I think will do the best job, hopefully so will the rest of us, then let them do their job. Worrying, isn't worth too much to me. Either it will happen or it won't, if it doesn't, then there was nothing to worry about. I do try and plan ahead for certain events. If it is going to snow, then I ready the snow blower. If it doesn't, then at least, it is ready for the next time. There is a lot wrong with this world, and I'm not sure it is getting any better. I do what I can, and hope it is enough.
