Whats the deal with thumbs down? I know some people deserve a thumbs down due to saying something ugly, but some answers seem really good to me and people are hitting thumbs down... Does it hurt your feelings when you see a thumbs down on your answer???

Lots of people on here have been stalkers, and follow particular users around thumbs downing every answer they give. I've been affected by this, It seems to have ended now though. I'm not the only one who suspects this..I've seen a strong increase in questions suspecting this.

Some people (mostly in the politics and religious categories) thumbs-down simply out of opinion. Christians and Atheists are fighting, thus Christians thumbs-down everybody who implies Atheism, and Atheists thumbs-down everything that implies Christianity. (Gee, remind you of what's been happening for thousands of years, just on a smaller scale?), in the political section, simply replace the words "Atheists" and "Christians" with the words "Conservatives" and "Liberals." Those whole sections are a giant circus really.

I've noticed a lot of questions seem to have discriminant thumbs-downers - Those who thumbs-down EVERY answer in the question, regardless of quality, opinion advocated, or anything else.

Most of the time, this is simply the result of what many on here would call 'trolling.'

As far as hurting my feelings; Occasionally if I give an answer that I know is great I think to myself "What the hell," but that's basically ended; due to trolling, thumbs-down have really lost any meaning they once had. As far as the answers that were thumbs-downed simply because I told someone what they didn't want to here, or because I shared my political/religious beliefs then I usually end up assuming greater intelligence than certain users. I know that sounds really arrogant, but It's true.

I don't know why some people thumbs down for no reason. I think they just do it when they disagree with someones opinion at times and that doesn't necessarily make it a bad answer. Sometimes I have to admit it does hurt my feelings but I try not to let it get to me. Everyone has different opinions or they may not agree with what you are saying.

true. all the racist answers get thumbs up, while the person who tells the person how ignorant they are gets yelled at and thumbs down.. it doesnt make sense. i only wish it was available for questions only, b/c alot of great answers get thumbs down. plus, sometimes the thumbs down uis used in vain. the quesiton may be whats ur fave colour? and the person says red. and they get like 5 thumbs down and 1 thumb up. WHY? i like red! its not a bad answer! And it doesnt hurt my feelings, b/c i know the person may not understand where im coming from, or may not agree, which is okay.

Doesn't hurt my feelings...I just look at it like they have nothing better to do. After all, thumbs down don't affect points in any way....

Yes it does, I'm just giving out my opinion, not trying to offend somebody on purpose.

I get it all the time. Just differing opinions, not personal.
