no, only humans have been given the gift and curse of abstract thought which is the reason of a conscious.

Ask them they have the aswer not me. I am but human. I know myself and am satisfied (almost) in such i do wonder of other things but i do not ask impossible question's to torture the minds and souls of others.

I think it's very possible that everything has consciousness, just on very different levels. For instance an animal's consciousness may be closer to the awareness experienced by plant life than than our consciousness can imagine;animals would a have better idea of human awareness than plants. Where we would have an idea of a plane of existence "after-life" when it is beyond the imagination of an animal.

Rocks are not conscious.
They do not react to what happens to them, they do not attempt to preserve themselves. They do not comprehend two or more choices and make a decision.
