Water glass can be used to coat wood and cloth and it will be fire proof after it dries, but it may no longer be suitable for its intended use. Cedar wood will lose its aroma and cloth will be stiff and scratchy when worn.

Sodium silicate, (water glass), a harmless water
soluble salt, will render cloth flame retardant.
That is the simplest way I know.
(The fire retardant property will not survive washing.)
If your application involves high heat or long exposure,
'pay the man the two dollars` for professional grade nomex or the like. - It's cheaper than a doctor.

Almost nothing is fire proof.
But if you are looking for fire protective material.
Look for a fire safety store in your area.
