My internship supervisor/owner of the company is extremely rude. I'm thinking about quitting the internship. I've had tyrannical bosses before, but this one just seems to be psycho. She blew up on me the first day of the internship because I made a mistake in cleaning the coffee pot. Then the other day, she asked me to lock the front door and I thought I locked it but I didn't and she blew up on me about that and told me that I need to explain to her why I wasn't able to lock the door. I told her I thought it was locked but apparently it wasn't and she just kept yelling at me for like 15 minutes and told me I need to learn to do a better job at simple tasks. She has told me that I do excellent work at more complex tasks but when something petty like this happens, she nearly loses her mind. I think she may have some type of mental problem. She also mentioned that she has fired interns for asking questions about simple tasks. Anyone have suggestions about what I should do?

I have a lot of other issues with the internship. Like the fact that all the employees are unpaid interns, she's very unaproachable and doesn't want anyone to ask for help on anything. She tends to blow up on me when I ask questions and basically try to make it seems like I'm just not paying attention enough, without even waiting to see what exactly I'm asking. I'm really bored with the tasks I'm given and think that I may not even be interested in this field anymore.

Oh and by the way, I asked her if I was locking the door properly and she got mad at me for asking and said "JUST LOCK IT!" and that I shouldn't ask questions about things like that I should just figure it out on my own.

From what you have said. it appears that this supervisor/ owner seems extremely petty. If your are sure your actions then the problem is her's. Just because you are an intetern does not mean you are at her mercy. Document each flare up and show this to your institution.

Is this a company that you really might want to work at? Usually, when you accept an internship, you do so because it is a career that you think you want to go into. If the supervisor tells you that you do excellent work at complex tasks, but blows up over small things, (but locking a door is not a small thing by any stretch), maybe you could find a way to delegate the simple tasks to someone else? Otherwise, maybe you should think about a different career.

You're going to have to yell back at her just one time. And possibly throw in a couple of curse words to let her know you're pissed off. I guarantee she will see you in a whole new light.
Imagine if there was a little kid in your neighborhood that always did what you said, then one day as you were yelling at this kid he turned around and said, "I'm tired of you yelling at me! You need to learn how to speak to children! D amnit!" Then he stormed off. This would definitely change your perception of this kid. Adults are nothing but Big Kids. This will work, but you have to get mad enough to implement it. I've been in this same situation. One day I snapped and started yelling right back. You wouldn't believe what a difference it made.

id merely forget approximately it, she grow to be of course in a undesirable temper already and regrettably you acquire the pointy end of the stick. in case you press this situation you're gonna make an enemy. once you go into artwork next act general. don't be apprehensive round her merely be your everyday self. regrettably some persons are extra stressy than others, and he or she sounds like one in each of them. merely relax, she would manage to likely have forgotten approximately it besides. I used to artwork on checkouts while i grow to be sixteen and there are some supervisors obtainable who think of they're so bloody cool and impressive because of the fact they seem to be a checkout supervisor. Wow wee!!! She probably began off as a checkout woman merely such as you. delight on your job and luxuriate in spending your earnings extra :)

try to talk to her about it, and explain that you have a problem with the way she is treating you. your obviously new, and new people are going to make mistakes. that is just how the world works. if this doesn't work, or if she is unwilling to listen to you, i would consider going to her supervisor, or going over her head. sounds like she is a real *****. good luck with that one. just remember to be firm but don't come on too strong when speaking to her. you want to speak with her in a way that will show you are willing to talk out the issue and still be friendly in the work place, but you don't want to come across weak either.

Kick her in the shins and send her to Anger Management therapy.
Seriously, if you are not committed to the internship, morally or by contract, drop it and find a better situation. And don't let one bad experience destroy your entire interest in a field.
