Well i was at my friends house the other day and we went next door to go swimming...and the people set up there pool wrong so they were going to drain it in the next day or two. They live out where there is a lot of wild animals. So there is these tree frogs that snuggle into the crack of the pool all the time. The frogs then decided it was time to lay eggs and they layed all there eggs in the pool. And as i said they were going to drain the pool. So my friend and i decided to save as many as we could find. We found probally more then 10 of them. I bought food for them the other day..and it is tadpole food and frog food. But like the food seems to big yet for them to eat. i am scared that all the tadpoles are going to die and i want to save them. What do i do? and they are tiny right now...and i can see through there bodies and see there little black eyes. They also stick to the sides of the tank. Can you tell me the stages of the tadpoles and anything else i shold know...thanx!

Tadpoles normally eat algae, so you can collect some of theis from any lake with good water quality for a start (I've raised several kinds of tadpoles myself using nothing but algae for food). Algae from a lake where people fish would be a good place, since the water is good enough for the people to eat the fish. You can also feed them pieces of romaine lettuce, or slices of zucchini that you cook or freeze first to soften them. You can also buy algae pellets (for fish) or alfalfa pellets (for rabbits). You'll need to clean their water at least once a week, just like you do for fish.

You can keep the tadpoles in just water through when you start to see their back legs developing. Once the front legs start to develop, you'll need to put a rock or something in the tank, because they'll be turning into frogs soon after, and will need to be able to get out of the water. Before long, they'll have all four legs, and absorb their tail and climb up onto the rocks or whatever you put in for them. At this point they need to start eating small insects, which ca be hard to keep inside the tank. So at this point, it might be a good idea to let them go in another place with water near where your friend lives.

What kind of tadpoles? Most tadpoles will eat small bugs, small pieces of meat, etc. Some tadpoles are filter feeders; theyll eat finely ground up fish food, and other stuff. Email me if you want more info. Edit: Haha, I misread your question. Thought it said 'What do I feed them?' Again, it depends on the kind of tadpoles. If they're close to morphing, then you might want to put some source of land in there, unless they're aquatic frogs. Most tadpoles need an air stone, though some will go to the top to breath. Don't use a filter, unless you know for a fact it's safe; it could harm them. Do 25%-50% water changes every other day. Most tadpoles do better if you add a heater and keep the temp at about 80; they'll grow faster. Make sure you read up on the type of tadpole, though. I could be completely wrong for your kind.

If you cant load any of these sites, you can find them as the 1st 3 entries under the keywords Tadpole Care info on Google.
