Is there no section on the internet where someone can go and not have to put up with ignorant anti-American sentiment? The latest is the hockey section here. Someone by the name of Moose Hair went on a tangent about how we "stupid" Americans don't realize that when a team based in the U.S. wins The Cup, it's Canadians actually doing the winning not "stupid Americans". Where does this crap come from? I know of not one person who thinks that it's American's who make up the player rosters of the NHL. But when someone answered this in a respectful manner explaining to this creitan that most knowledgable fans don't think this way, this idiot decided to answer by saying he played us "stupid" Americans like a fiddle. Nice. So, this is what passes for intelligent in Canada? But as a rebuttle, what exactly has Canada contributed to the world besides hockey and beer? See? Disrespect doesn't sound so good does it? So, enough. If you hate us, then don't come here. The rest are welcome!

I think some of you misunderstood this:
"So, this is what passes for intelligent in Canada? But as a rebuttle, what exactly has Canada contributed to the world besides hockey and beer? See? Disrespect doesn't sound so good does it?"
What I was is showing that chucklehead what it looks like to be disrespectful. I, myself, have nothing against Canada or Canadians. I've never been there but the people I have met are nothing short of exceptionally kind. I realize there are all kinds of nitiwts here but the main point of this is is there no forum anywhere I can go that doesn't turn into a "Bash America" fest?

As someone who loves America more than anything else (that's why i vote Democrat) i first say hockey and beer are some pretty kick azz things and they have that in addition to free health care and many many other things, so I'm really not looking to bash Canada. And it is a fact that Canadians make up the majority of the NHL and players such as Gretzky, Crosby, and Brodeur are all Canadians. In addition for almost seven years now we have not been earning the respect of other countries (thank you George Bush). However, this does not mean other countries can bash America. they are perfectly welcome to hate our current government (hey 75% of America does), but if Moose Hair has a problem with all of us we'll end him faster than a crappy show on fox. there are a TON of stupid Americans, but i'm sure there are at least that many stupid Canadians too, so if he wants to bring that sh*t here fine but he's gonna have to prepair to be slamed.

"So this is what passes for intelligent in Canada? But as a rebuttle, what exactly has Canada contributed to the world besides hockey and beer? See? Disrespect doesn't sound so good does it?" <---Not exactly nice/borderline hypocritical, but I know you have good intentions..
Pointing out things about Canadians makes you no better despite trying to justify them those things by saying "See? Disrespect doesn't sound so good does it?". I know you have good intentions, once again, but please leave this out of the HOCKEY section. There is a Politics & Government section where that guy's original question should have been.
I see only ONE mention of the word hockey and even that isn't about the actual game.
The guy's just trying to rile someone up. If SO many people didn't answer his question, he wouldn't have any fuel for his fire. Seriously, most of the dumber question in this section get more answers then the GOOD QUESTIONS.

Yeah but I doubt he is Canadian. I think it is someone trying to make them look bad. Likely really an American. Either that or it is really one of those Canadians that say THEY win the Cup if it is a Canadian city, but when an American city does it was the PLAYERS that won it. HUH? The players win it either way. I'm thrilled that they let us fans get to appreciate it but they were the ones on the ice and they are the ones that earned it. That's why the players get their name on it and they get to take it where they want. Yeah the city gets some time with it because the fans usually helped some by showing the players support but it isn't the same as what the players did.

I'm a canadian going to university in america and i hate hearing about this same stuff time after time. Yes, Canadians care more on the whole about hockey than Americans, but to call a whole group of people stupid because they don't follow a sport as much as the other. The way I see it...both Americans and Canadians are in the wrong.

Now that was funny. If you read between his lines, you will see Jealousy. His final comment said it all. We got to him, or he wouldn't have stated that it didn't bother him....whaa.
I also never really considered the hockey players to come from one particular country. If you look at their last name, they come from all over the world. Getzlaf, is that really Canadian? I think it is German. Niedermayer, I think it is Russian. You know what I am saying.
These guys put their heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears into winning one of the greatest achievements hockey has to offer, The Cup.
So congrats Anaheim for winning the Cup.

Anti-American sentiment is borne from a variety of global factors, many of them with merit, but none that need to be discussed in this forum.
The hysterical irony I found in Moose's comments was that a few hours later, 1/3 of the players selected in the 1st round of the NHL draft came from the US.

Stop whining, don't read it if it offends you, like I chose not to. As far as him playing you like a fiddle, essentially he is because he is just looking to get a reaction and I can see he has suceeded.
As far as only having beer and hockey. What else in life is there? Women I suppose and we also have a few of those up here. "Freckles" from "lost" is one friggin' hot Canadian woman.
While I may not agree with some of your countries policy, I love the U.S- Philly and Vegas are second homes for me but I guess we are straying from the category of hockey.

He's an angry little kid because a Canadian team has yet to win a cup in his lifetime. Don't let him lead to you believe that all Canadian people are anti-American. Most Canadians like American people and especially like the American health care system.

I'm with you there. Only dim-witted idiots will be foolish enough to go online and mis-represent the very country they claim to be carrying the banner for. I don't let them besmirch the mature and respectful fans of any country. And I don't tolerate it from classless and ignorant users that are from my country as well.
An excellent point. Let the kids hang themselves with the rope that Yahoo has extended to them.
