Holy CRAP! 4 answers in a row that are actually correct! I am amazed. All the other "what about the Good Hitler stuff" Qs are flooded by ignorant idiots.

Chunky, he ordered Ferdinand Porsche (sound familiar?) to build what became the Volkswagen.

For all the idiots who are saying "All the BAD things Hitler did outweighed the few GOOD things he did." You know what I say to that? DUUUUUUUUHHHH! We all know he was a sick murderer! For crap's sake, I was just pointing out how he rebuilt Germany, basically created the German automotive industry (Yes, MB was around then, but who could afford them) and was on his way to banning smoking. Say all the bad things you want about him, you'll be right about them (AND you'll sound like a broken record), all the BAD things he did is not the subject of this question, now is it my little 6th graders?

Rohak, you made a good point about people not seeing the good in things. George W Bush is one of the worst disasters in recent history, I hate him with a passion, but I still acknowledge the good things he did, such as eliminate the death tax.

To be fair? To Hitler?
What about the 9/11 terrorists - actually fairly good pilots, right?
And Charles Manson - gifted tattoo artist?

Oooooooooooh just read your additional comment. I wish I had known we were allowed to say 'ignorant idiot' when I typed out my answer.

The problem is, that he cancelled all those good things out. I have read a number of good things that he did for his country and people. I won't list it all but, some of it is impressive. However, none of it is impressive enough to stand against all the negative effect that he had on the world. Not to mention the negative influence he still has.

Politicians are always screwing up and then trying to make people forget by doing something good, or at least popular. Well, it works both ways. The world can't be expected to focus on anything good about Adolf Hitler in the face of all the unthinkable damage he was responsible for.

btw, it's not just that the bad outweighs the good. It is also that he did all that good for his country. He brought the german people back to the brink of greatness and then he just destroyed his country. And he did it for hatred and domination. He didn't even have a noble motive (he was no Charlemagne). So he cancelled it out that way, as well.

It's all too bad, but it is fair that the world remembers nothing good about Hitler.

Well he brought Germany back to being a good country, with enough money, most people had jobs. He brought them out of the depression. He broke some of the clauses of the treaty of Versaille, which was good in a way. Because they would have only finished paying the compensations in the 1980s!! Also they can now have a bigger army, meaning they can defend themselves thanks to hitler. It would be unfair to still be punishing germany for things that happened nealry 100 years ago.

The bad things he did, really did out weigh the good. First, the didn't rebuild Germany as a kindness, he did it to have a better war machine for conquest. Second, he was the villain in the largest war in history. Nobody wants to know that he was actually smart, or ever did anything constructive. So his accomplishments are overlooked to further demonize that man.

all right. here's the truth about hitler.
so hitler started off as an orphan. he lived on the streets of i think it was italy (he moved to an orphanage there and then was too poor to move bak to germany) and he sold paintings. he started hating jews when he saw that they were more fortunate than he was. so honestly...i dnt think that he had much interest in doing good for germany. and the end results were that germany's economy was completely destroyed. also, buildings, houses, farms, everything was burned down or bombed. germany was in SO much debt after. and the inflation was incredible during the war. the value of one of their currencies in 1935 ended up being one trillionth of the value that it ended up in 1945. no joke. look it up. so he really did nothing good. he just brainwashed every1 into thinking that he was this amazing guy who was just doing the best for his country. and by the way...if any of the generals refused to kill one of the prisoners upon orders, he would be shot then and there. is that diong any good for germany? idts. that's killing all of the innocent civilians (and btw any1 who contradicted his beliefs of exterminating the jews was also killed) im not exaggerating. he was a bad guy.

Well to be fair there were some things his government accomplished that have already been named. But then there were the other things like the genocide of the Jews and all that nasty Holocaust buisness. Mixed in with the whole trying to take over the world and stuff. I mean there was some good stuff he did hidden in there, but all of the terrible things he did overshadow the good stuff.

Good things....? from Hitler's point of view....

*Ridding the population of "undesirable" kinds of people who drain the economy. After all, who needs gypsies, Jews, the handicapped, religious fanatics like priests and evangelical ministers, gays, etc. Let's purify the demographics.
*Extensive recycling of gold, hair, and clothing from central collecting "camps" (places named Auschwitz, Chelmno or Treblinka).
*Allowing foreign armies to demolish (by bombing) obviously derelict, ancient neighborhoods so progressive new construction projects can be built by the same foreign governments. Why make the German people pay for rebuilding?
*And finally, the only item NOT said in sarcasm... committing suicide so huge sums of time and money are not spent in Hitler's trial and appeal for crimes against humanity.

He created the Hitler Youth and got the fat kids off their butts and into shape by doing activities. Indeed he kept lots of German Youth healthy and active and with a bright Aryan smile :-) He also created the Lebensborn Foundation ( it was actually Heinrich Himmler ) that helped pregnant women!!!

Interesting question but no one is dumber than George Bush.

I guess if he did anything good it was to teach the World a lesson about tyranny, hate, war and dictatorship that we will not hopefully forget in the near future and can reflect upon for future decisions.
