You'd think someone with the know-how to sign up and use Yahoo! Answers would also have the ability to do internet searches to find answers to their questions. Why don't people just do that? The internet is full of answers to almost any topic. Remember RTFM?

Because it's easier to ask than search for answers and they're lazy.

This is my opinion:

People are naturally arrogant. Some of us are able to suppress that arrogance and some of us can’t do it that well. I think that a lot of people on Answers feel that there is no possibility that anyone would share the same curiosity as them. This, therefore, leads to an uncountable number of questions on what to do when you receive a virus.

What infuriates me the most is not when one asks an easily searched question but when one answers the question with some stock answer that they use with every question. What this leads to are “Best Answers” that only know the answer to 1 question, which in many cases they can’t even recall due to the “copy-and-paste” function on their computer.

People lack common sense. Unlike other animals, we are not born with many natural instincts, and, therefore, we must learn. Some learn quicker then others.

I guess I’ll stop going with my “What’s wrong with the world today speech”, but you did ask.

I hope that your question will spark some kind of desire in people to spend the time, not the points, to get an answer to their question, although, I doubt it will.

Ps: You don’t get two points for asking a question you lose points. For all the morons that said people do it for the two points, you are wrong.

Edit: To Roy C and to whom this is applicable: If you need a person that you have never even met, who lacks all feeling for you, to answer your questions so that you can feel appreciated, then you really need to grow up. Also, you say that people can't trust the Internet so they come here. Well that makes perfect sense, since everyone on Answers knows what they are talking about, and no one would ever lie here. You need to look around.

Because I think the people here are nice for the most part, and very helpful. Also, I have tried getting an answer by searching through Google etc. Sometimes I spend hours, and still don't get the answer. A lot of times it's so complex for me (I'm not a computor genius) that I don't know what the heck they're talking about. People here, are nice enough to put it in terms easy enough for a computor dummy like me can understand. This also applies to any problem that stumps me. People here make my day! Thanks everybody.

I don't know what RTFM is, but sometimes people ask for the lyrics to a song or something and I want to slap them. Sometimes though, you ask a question here because you want a personal answer, you could check the internet, but what if your illness has an odd symptom not listed anywhere? Maybe somebody here would recognize it! It's just nice to have such a diverse audience sometimes.

Why did you ask here maybe you should google it.
Maybe because they do not believe what a yahoo or google search has given them.
Maybe they are looking for answers from real people to have a kind of interpersonal relationship.
Maybe they are alone and feel better if someone is paying attention to them by answering their questions. By other people answering their questions they do not feel as alone.

Yeah some questions that are normally asked on here
can be easily googled. But I think it's just the fact of having
people who probably experienced the same question their
asking. But eh..who knows.

To get information from people whom they can talk to and ask more questions of the same type.

I'll ask you this, Couldn't you Google or Yahoo Search this question?? :-P

Often, I will ask the question 1st, and then while waiting for answers, I will search it. Then come back to the answers that are meant JUST for me. It makes it seem "more" personal when you get answers to YOUR own question.
