I have news for you..there are good things and bad things and it is not that way just because someone thinks it is.. if you break a leg..that is bad.. it is not someones imagination.. it is real..it is a truth.. and it hurts for real.. and has negative affects.. there are good things as well.. many of them.. in fact there are very many more of the good things than the bad.. if, in your question, you are refering to the level of good or bad..then I say yes to that and it is up to a persons beliefs or imagination as to how good or bad it may be..I think there is a truth in this phrase "nothing is as good or bad as it seems at the moment" the level of something good or bad is a matter of perception...

That begs the question...."do you think rape is bad"? Or is it good because the rapist thinks so? Who is right and who is wrong? How do you tell if thinking it good or bad is a philosophy to run your life on?
How many rapists would admit to their act being bad? I think a good many, or else we would have a larger picture of the actual numbers of rapist we have amongst ourselves.
Thinking it good or bad does not make it good or bad.
What makes it good, are a defined set of boundaries that we as a social order do not cross over without negative consequences. So a lot of rapists will not admit to thier crime.
So what about a painting? Is it good or bad? Here we have to have an educated man or woman commenting on the artwork. Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder, it is a learned and taught thing. So we have parameters, and boundaries in the visual arts that can only be crossed by someone who knows how to bend the rules to make the art work for the viewer.
Ones personal taste does not make a painting good or bad. Thinking it good doesn't render a good work. It means you either have bad taste, if the work is poor. Or, you have good taste and know the art of beauty enough to say "it is bad", or "it is good".
Thinking it isn't going to make it.

That is absolutely right. It depends on the point of view. Things can be veiwed in 2 ways : good or bad. It depends on the past experiences of the person and also the person's personality. For an optimistic person, even the worst situations has a brighter side, n it's the other way for the pessimists.

A rose would still be a rose even if you called it cabbage.
You can twist anything around to justify it.
But it will never be right and you will have consequences
It will come back to bite you big time.......
Deep in our heart and soul unless we are severely mentally ill your heart knows what is good or bad, sometimes a persons heart soul and conscious are seared from doing so much evil and they destroy their selves......... I respectfully disagree

The proper quotation is: Nothing is good or bad, BUT thinking makes it so.
It's from Hamlet (Wm Shakespere), and it means that there is nothing inherently right or wrong, good or evil, only our values determine how we perceive the event or thought.

In a certain respect that could be right. For instance the fact that there are different laws and rules within different cultures.
All in all, though, killing, stealing, raping, child-molesting, owning slaves, and assault are wrong--probably everywhere. Violent crime is never 'good'--forcing someone to do something they don't want to do is never 'good' (unless you are his/her parent, teacher, etc.).

As long as I am not harming, myself, others, or society as a whole then what ever I am comfortable with is, (my norm). With-in that logic, good or bad is no longer an issue.

you are exactly correct. good and bad are simply up to individual interpretation. what appears to be bad to one person my be good to another. this applies to foods, morals, and cultural beliefs. I also believe that nothing really matters. Nothing. There is no god or afterlife. when you are dead you are dead. The ashes to ashes and dust to dust part they got right though. Live your life without regard to what others think about it. If they want to waste their time in life worrying about what you are doing, it is their own time they are wasting.
There is no good or bad, only the perception of good or bad.
