No.No.No.....
That name is so directly associated with a distinct dance. She would be so teased! Honestly, it's like "Hey look, here comes Limbo"....

Well, it is too much associated with the dance. Yet, I looked it up on http://www.behindthename.com and this is what I found:
MACARENA
Gender: Feminine
Usage: Spanish
Pronounced: mah-kah-RE-nah [key]
From the name of a barrio (district) in Seville, which got it's name from a temple which may have been named for a person Macarius (see MACARIO). The Virgin of Macarena, that is Mary, is widely worshipped in Seville.
I wouldn't do that to my child, but if you like how it sounds, here are some similar sounding names:
Marlena
Marissa
Marni
Raena
Reena
Renee
Marlee
Macayla

Let's see ...
MACARENA
Gender: Feminine
Usage: Spanish
Pronounced: mah-kah-RE-nah
From the name of a barrio (district) in Seville, which got it's name from a temple which may have been named for a person Macarius (see MACARIO). The Virgin of Macarena, that is Mary, is widely worshipped in Seville.
MACARIO
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Spanish
Pronounced: mah-KAH-ryo
Spanish form of the Roman name Macarius, derived from the Greek name ÎακαÏÎ¹Î¿Ï (Makarios), which was in turn derived from Greek Î¼Î±ÎºÎ±Ï (makar) meaning "blessed, happy". This was the name of several early saints.
It has a lovely meaning, and it is very Spanish (plus for the Proud Heritage crowd). That said, I wouldn't use it.
Aside from the whole dance/song thing, the first syllable sounds like Ma', and I don't like the ray sound in the middle of it. I just don't like the sound.

Are you serious? I wouldn't name my daughter that if it was the last name in the book. Well, your daughter may get teased a lot with that name. Just be in the best interest of her when naming her. Do you really want to have the song in your head every time you think of her name?

If you like the sound of Macarena, try a name like Karina. Similar sound, but without all of the teasing involved.

Maybe that is true about it being his daughter's name. But since the song, no one would ever look at it anything but a dance from an era. It is NOT a good name for a little one!

Hmm.
I'm not sure on Macarena as a name...I wouldn't name my daughter that, personally.
But it's a wicked song ;)

I don't think so. Not only would the child be teased in school because of the song, but the name also kinda sounds like macaroni. I don't know maybe it is just me,but I would most definitely not name my child that.

"Come, and call me, they call me Macarena!" I think it's cute, but I can see her getting made fun of ALOT! For the dance/song, and because it's similar to Macaroni.

The poor child would be terrorized. I imagine his daughter got teased once the song came out & probably doesn't use her real name a lot. Probably not a good idea...

horrid--- she will always be defined by a trendy, somewhat obnoxious song from the 90s... If she's lucky, she'll go by Mack and people won't play the song too often at major events
