I will never vote for someone who wants to raise taxes.
By stating that this is their intention I believe they have shot themselves in the foot and will lose significant support from moderate fence sitters.
I want to go on record as thanking the two fine socialists for doing so.

What do you consider wasteful spending? I bet that would include all social programs including social security and medicare. You must be rich enough to take care of your elderly parents, or are you going to sell everything off they own and put them in a home because they weren't smart enough to save? And I am not worried about raising taxes because it will not effect me much because I am not rich. Just like the tax cuts didn't affect me. But, if my taxes do go up a little , I am proud to give, because it probably means I am supporting the elderly and the poor children in this country that cannot help their dumb *** parents are lazy or on drugs. Instead of complaining all the time about social programs in this country, where are the complaints against giving the whole damn world money? And spending millions on dumb$hit like putting a 4 wheeler on mars? And sending money to help rebuild Lebanon after our allies blew it up? Conservatives never complain about helping others but raise holy hell if we help our own. I am through with my rant now, let the thumbs down begin from the radicals.

It depends on what taxes they are raising and what spending they are cutting. I would rather vote for a tax raiser over someone who would cut education funding. Cutting taxes is not always a good thing. Sometimes funds get cut from important parts of the federal government and we end up in a worse situation than if we had raised taxes nationally.
With the current state of affairs I believe a tax raise is needed because how are we supposed to continue to pay for the war and not take more from other areas?

How are we paying for the Iraq war? The Bush Admin. is running up a huge deficit and ultimately a Democrat will step into office to try and raise taxes to balance the budget and people will groan when all the Democrat is doing is providing dammage control for the Bush Administation.
So in an indirect way, isn't Bush the cause of a lot of wasteful spending?
Chainsaw, you want to have a crack at this dilemma rather than simply bashing liberals?
*PS: Please don't tell me "wasteful spending" includes putting more money into education because I think the grade D meat kids are getting at school is already pretty crappy.

The way to end government waste is to get rid of Hillary, Kennedy,Schumer, Finestein, Kerry, and last but not least Lautenburg (does nothing but takes up space). He is another old air bag like Kennedy thats been in there too long

"Hillary and Obama want to RAISE taxes."
That's probably true considering the history of the Democratic party.
"Republicans want to CUT SPENDING"
That's probably false considering the history of the GOP.
How about this: We lower the taxes and we balance the budget and stop wasting tax payers dollars on pork barrel projects and our "allies" overseas whom we give hundereds of billions of dollars every year solely for the fact that they aren't at war with us already (such as Israel, Egypt, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan) and are being "friendly" to Americans. Damn that was a run on sentence! Basically, what we need to do is focus more of our budget at home rather than overseas.
At the end of the day we must admit the fact that neither the Democrats nor the Republicans will work in our interests...even though I'm really liking Ron Paul's plans for the economy.

Look at the national debt. The president will have to raise taxes. I'd rather have a president who is honest about it, instead of a president who promises to cut taxes, but then raises them.

We all agree that there is wasteful spending, the problem is Republicans attack social programs , whereas Democrats attack corporate welfare.
RLP the FACT is the majority of people in this country are the middle class and poor, if people truly voted for their financial interests we would never have a Republican elected ever again.
