First of all, learn to spell.
Secondly, Bush is evil.
Thirdly, why would we not care about the dead? The troops that are alive are being sent to their deaths.
What do you want? A friggin' parade?
You chose to join. No one made you join. We're not responsible for your morale.
You put the uniform on every day and defend? Defend what, exactly?
The media reports the bad because there is nothing good to report. And they're all right-wing, too. Fox, CNN, all of them. But they can only sugarcoat things so much.
The true patriots are the ones protesting the war.

Good question...
I don't think people are NOT supportive of the troops, it's that they don't support the government's decisions regarding the troops. I personally have tons of family and friends deployed. I am so appreciative that they are defending my life and the lives of others, BUT I feel like it is time for them to come home from the war. We are spending billions and billions of tax dollars on the war when there are people homeless, unable to get proper healthcare, proper education, etc... In the past couple of years, over 10 elementary schools have been closed in my area, just for a taste of how much we value education... America is one of the most powerful countries in the world, yet our children consistently score low on math and science. Why is this? Maybe if we had more funding for education, the future generation(s) would be more prepared. Also, being a civilized, first-world country, one would think our citizens would have proper healthcare. Nope...
I feel like we have SO many problems right now in America. I think our money needs to be spent solving these problems. The troops need something to defend! So it's not that I personally have anything against the troops. I'm sure they are making great strides in places like Iraq. But the underlying problem is that we need to be making strides in our own country before we go and help others. That may be selfish, but hey, they're our tax dollars. I work long hours and pay taxes so that my children will have a future. I want to know that the place I live in is a good place to raise children. I want my childen to have opportunities. America has played 'big brother' to the world for a looooong time. Let's let some other countries step in... Oh wait...nobody wants to? Shocking...
One of my biggest fears regarding the war is that we will spend so much money and time in Iraq and we will lose so many lives. Then, we will be attacked by some other country on our own soil and we will not have the resources to fight it. I feel as though the government is taking so much money already. I can barely pay my bills, and I live a modest lifestyle. What more can they take!? The cost of living is already pretty high in America. What about people of low income on the verge of being broke? We would have even MORE people in trouble...
By the way, who says the troops suck and are evil!?! That is VERY ridiculous and I wouldn't take it personally. Those people probably have NO idea what it is that the troops are doing over across the Atlantic. I highly respect any person who is willing to risk their life to defend the people of America and our country. I am upset with the government's decisions, but as long as they are over there, I will support them 100%.
I don't know, these are just my own opinions. I guess I can't speak for everyone, but I imagine quite a few people share my views...

Well the truth is that Osama Bin Laden himself said that it would be easier for the Islamist to defeat America than it was for them to defeat the USSR because the American people have no stomach for war and the unfortunate casualties that come with it. It is funny really... In WWII we leveled entire cities, millions of people were killed but the majority understood it had to be done in order to achieve victory. Bin Laden, Hamas and Hezbollah rely on the American left to aid them in their eventual victory. Of course the left refuses to understand that their position is aiding the enemy but hell they deny their role in America's "defeat" in Vietnam even though the North Vietnamese General Giap openly stated that they knew they could never beat the American military but all they had to do was hold on long enough for the American people to demand our withdrawal. So guess what? Yes the leftist did cause the loss in Vietnam and they will cause the loss in this war. The military is being forced to fight a super clean war in order to placate the left and that is a recipe for disaster. War is nasty, our enemy is brutal anything less than victory will further empower their ambitions. For those that think that the Islamist hate Bush, you are idiots. This started way before him and they wont stop just because he is gone... they hate you too and if given the chance will kill you as well.

There is a very fine line between patriotism and fascism.
The political frustrations vented during a war or a military occupation like the current one in Iraq, should not be misinterpreted as condemnation of the soldiers doing the fighting.
I don't make any distinctions between wars when I honor the men and women going through utter hell while performing a "mission" our elected civilian officials have decided to send them on.
Sincere and open debate about the merits of an ongoing military deployment is the best way to give our soldiers the reassurance that they aren't being taken for granted!
You will find plenty of soldiers that are happy to be reassured that their fate is being debated vigorously by millions back home --- DAILY!
"THE STATE THAT SEPARATES ITS SCHOLARS FROM ITS WARRIORS WILL HAVE ITS THINKING DONE BY COWARDS, AND ITS FIGHTING DONE BY FOOLS." --- Thucydides (circa 460-400 BC)
The reason why we are so vigorously debating this war in Iraq is because we are refusing to allow the situation described above to ever exist in our great Republic!

It is sad, I see people here have called you a 'puppet'. No, I think you are a brave soldier who loves his country.
Most of the news portrays the bad that the military is doing, but they never seem to report on the good. It is sad too.
Many people do care. It is the select few who call you 'puppets' and the people who care more about self ambition rather than the future of this country (Michael moore) that don't care.
Thank you for joining. This country sure does owe a lot to you and to all the brave soldiers who put their lives on the line every day to help secure our freedom and the freedom of others.

Hey pal, I came home in '68 to being spit on, I had bottles thrown at me and my own father disowned me. We were told we couldn't go to town in uniform and when we got home from 'Nam, had to put on civvies and were told not to tell people where we were.
So, what was your complaint now, by the way, I was there through two tours.
I have a nephew that complained he didn't get a parade for Desert Storm, he admitted he sat in a bunker for six months and gambled his pay away and boozed it up.
I agree with you but, get used to it, that's the way it is.

I'd say ignore the narrowminded comments from people who can't at least try to see things from another point of view. It's everywhere in life, and no matter what you do or what you believe in, some jerk is going to dog you for it, instead of being civilized and agreeing to disagree. You've got balls and pride that deserves respect. You're taking a chance and defending what you believe in by taking action. Imagine the people that will go through their entire lives, too scared to move or make a decision. Now that is a wasted life. Thank you for taking risks.

If you have a moral problem resulting from the disagreement on the handling of the war you are missing the point of the majority of dissenters. Most of those against the war want it to end to preserve the lives of the troops. Think of the moral level if your comrades were home with their families. Questioning the actions of government is one of the most patriotic acts possible.

What about who's alive....lets keep them that way and get the hell out of there. You said it, you are just doing what you were told to do. Those bosses are in the wrong, plain and simple. You need to go on strike. It has nothing to do with patriotism. When the boss is wrong, he is wrong. "To go forth mindlessly and do what is commanded without thinking is WRONG. We know no terrorist will be there. How stupid do YOU think they are. YOU know that they are not there, and yet you kill inhabitants. Sure you are finding Iraqii's....you are in Iraq. What did you think would be there....eskimos?
