The sugar mixes with the gas,and is transported to the cylinders combustion chambers. When sugar burns at hi temps it form a very abrasive material similar to silica sand a blasting cleaning sand. This is then cleaned from the cylinder and deposited into the engine oil. From there its pumped to all lubrication point and act as an abrasive destroying the smooth surfaces. when it reaches the main and insert bearings it destroys the tolerances and the engine fails, usually breaking a crankshaft or engine lock up.....George
