Yes, but, if you're not smart enough to check out the UT site for this basic information, you're not smart enough to get through a premed program.

Virtually all large American universities and most smaller schools have a premed designation that you can register for. Premed is not a major, you still have to pick a regular major like biology or chemistry. When you get to UT the premed advisor will explain to the premed students what they need to do to be ready to apply to med school when they are seniors.

Premed is a VERY competitive area. If you are not one of the best students at the university, your chances of getting into med school will be dim. So buckle down and work your hardest in every single course, every single day.
