It has for me... but for it to work, it requires willingness of one to learn how to do it, practice (that is, be consistent), have patience, and be open-minded. There are many websites with information on "how-to" meditate... and you can google and find about it to your heart's content. A few books I've found to really make a difference for me:
The Intuitive Way: A Guide to Living From Inner Wisdom
by Penney Peirce
Meditation Secrets for Women: Discovering Your Passion, Pleasure, and Inner Peace,
by Camille Maurine & Lorin Roche, Ph.D.
The 7 Healing Chakras: Unlocking your Body's Energy Centers
by Brenda Davies, M.D.
Wheels of Life: A User's Guide to the Chakra System
by Anodea Judith, Ph.D.
Yoga practice also utilizes meditation, and there are several books and websites you can find for that as well... Yoga Journal has a website:
http://www.yogajournal.com/
And, there is a mudra (hand poses) book I've found to be of great usefulness during meditation:
Healing Mudras: Yoga for Your Hands
by Sabrina Mesko

A definite yes! Meditation is not a quick cure, but it is definitely part of a long-term solution. Meditation can help you focus your thinking and train your mind in addition to helping you relax. It can help memory and problem-solving. I would seek someone to help you learn to meditate and there are some good book out there There was a self help book on relavation published by Harbinger Press, I believe, that you can get through amazon.com. Good luck!

I have a friend who takes part in meditation. He's a very level-headed sort, and I wouldn't be surprised if his meditation played a part in that. You might want to ask the people in Health & Fitness about this.

There is tons of empirical evidence suggesting that meditation can be useful in reducing stress. Ever seen a stressed Tibetan monk?
Look around your own community - maybe you can find a yoga class.

I have heard from friends that meditation is awesome! you can go online and search different techniques if you want. I would suggest enrolling in a local yoga classroom, or speak with your doctor about it. He may know some local areas where you can participate. Have fun with it and good luck!
