Scientology is a cult, and its founder L. Ron Hubbard was a crappy pulp science fiction writer and diagnosed schizophrenic, who put a bunch of mumbo-jumbo together to start a pseudo-religion. Anybody who falls for Scientology's outer-space-alien nonsense has some screws loose, and probably needs a good psychiatrist.

And yet the rich and famous seem to believe in it, why?

They're BRAINWASHED. We can't be too hard on them since brainwashing can victimize even the best and brightest.

normal people don't sell tabloids. If they acted normal no one would want to read about them. To justify their insanity they deny the existance of it in their "religion" I don't care too much what they do but what I find offensive is that they use their celebrity status to criticize people who have the strength to admit that they need help for their mental problems. Like the whole Brooke Sheilds, Tom Cruise thing. They flaunt their ignorance by saying all mental problems can be controlled without meds. Don't get me wrong med are sometimes over prescribed to those who want a quick fix, however the brain is an organ that controls your body and like any other, things can go wrong with it. Long story short, how can these melodramatic uneducated quacks claim to have expertise on something they know nothing about. Scientology is definitely a cult for the rich and the shallow.

You have to bear in mind that Scientology starts fairly innocuously by comparison. If you read their starting book 'Dianetics' you'll find he starts all professorial, but moves onto odder and odder things. One of these is that the Scientologist can improve his or her life quality by 'recalling' pre-birth traumas, like being squashed in the womb while their mother was taking a crap. (This example is actually cited in the book). Afterwards the Scientologist will be asked to accept steadily more outlandish concepts. After they have gone 'Clear' they will be expected to recall traumas from previous lives! Not that they are making it up of course. Oh no... By the time they get as far as Xenu (and most of them can't afford to) they'll accept absolutely anything they've been told. Such is the nature of brainwashing. Haven't heard of this Lokacia bloke until now, but it wouldn't surprise me! I'll have to find out more about that... Cheers.

I could say the same for ANY religion!!! If you believe there's a big man in the sky watching everything you do every minute of the day. Then YOU need some therapy. He's all knowing, all powerful, all mighty, all wonderful, & if you break one of his 10 rules he'll send you to hell where you'll burn & slave & suffer for eternity...but he loves you!

The main problem i have w/ Scientology is the word itself, like it's actually based on science...Uh, NO! Evolution is based on science, not L. Ron Hubbard's wacked out sense of reality!!

As far as celebs getting brainwashed by this crap, they live in a fantasy world to begin with! I'd like to dress up and play pretend everyday but i live in the real world.

some people just like to be misled and are weak minded, some of us are always looking for the next best thing that can give you a buzz or make you high,it all seems a waste of time to me, just believe in yourself and you can"t go wrong.

The meds isn't helping, the shrinks have given up, & nobody's listening to them so they run to Scientology.

--- A star for you for a very interesting question.

They're all brain-washed. You have to consider the mentality of actors. Most of them live in a dream world, and they have poor morals.

I know it's a cult, and they're running rampant here in Florida.

the truth of the matter is that this is America and America was settled on the basis of religious (among other)freedoms,.. So it really isnt our business what they want to believe... just like it isnt anybodys business or place to judge you for what you believe...
Even Jesus encouraged people to think for themselves... and NO, I am not a scientologist... I do not defend any one religion... I believe we need to respect ALL peoples and ALL religions... in order to truly be enlightened....(even the ones we dont agree with)

each of us are free to believe in somenthing, just because we do not agree with it that do not mean it is wrong, crappy or schizophrenic . ''Freedom of religion is a guarantee by a government for freedom of belief for individuals and freedom of worship for individuals and groups. It is generally recognized to also include the freedom not to follow any religion (irreligion) and not to believe in any god (atheism or agnosticism). Religious toleration is the condition of accepting or permitting others' religious beliefs and practices which disagree with one's own. Freedom of religion is considered by many in Western nations to be a fundamental human right.''
