Religion, was necessary at the beginning of time to help human comprehend natural phenomenons around them that they could not explained.
Personally, I believe that religions are dividing the world instead of uniting it, and the fact that most are man made, to serve man purposes, make most religious institutions biaised...
My wish would have been that people would learn to live with their beliefs without questioning others beliefs.
Everybody on earth is different and unique, so everybody need different things to live their life, and as I say before, religion is like a boat, that help you cross the river, but his only powered by your arms will...
Nothing happen by magic, even miracles happen for a reason...

Big Yes!

Before the Quran & the Bible unprovable beliefs were called myths.
It was when people learned to read and right down their beliefs that the trouble started.

No body believed exactly the same. Even today Jehovas have a Christian Bible, Mormons have a John Smith version of the Bible. Catholics have a Bible translated from Greek & Hebrew by Constantine that made the Roman Empire look like good Gods chosen people.

Now if people really thought about it, it's the Politicians of the world that instigate the religious bloodshed, not the books, imo.

The world would be a better place if the politicians power was control-ed by obaying a strict set of rules........Hey, didn't the U.S. Constitutional framers try to do just that?

Very tough question. You get a star for that!

Good things about religion.
-Inspired people to create masterful works of art.
-Helped organize the masses under central leadership, effectively creating civilization as we know it.
-Encouraged people to treat their fellow man better than they would treat themselves.

Bad things about religion.
-Used to misguide people into accepting faith as a substitute for truth.
-Countless of wars waged in the name of countless Gods.
-Subjugation of women for the last two thousand years.

All in all, I would say that religion has done more good than evil. It is hard to imagine a world without religion. Personally, I am an Atheist, but I will admit that civilization has advanced to this point with much help from the church.

I think worse. Because most religions tell the person to be a good person. To treat others with respect. And but most people believe in there god and his teaching they will be good people.

As a Christian I'd have to say worse. Also you could ask the question "Do you think the world be better or worse if there was only religion" I mean come on, why try to make sound religion sound bad? Also I don't even see the point of living if life is some big rat race, do you honestly like the idea of working all your life, maybe get a nice car or 2 and a big house, then dying and just nothing. What is the point in that?

I'm unsure. I believe that there are a lot of people that use their religion as an excuse to be jerks. I also believe that one's religion can help them be happier and better people. I don't want the crappy ones to ruin it for the rest. (And no, I'm not just talking about MUSLIM extremists)

Probably better, religion has been the cause of countless wars. I suppose if we didn't have religion we would just fight over something else though, and none of that stops me from believing in God.

no, not really, it gives some people something to do. it has been quite a spiritual motivator for many people. I can not fault religion of the non-evangelical type too much.

It depends upon which religion are talking about. A particular religion is the industry for mass production of terrorists. World would have been definately better if this religion didn't exist.
