Cell phone (Verizon) question.?

My friend went out today as a graduation gift and got the enV by LG. This phone is normally very costly. She went today, and got the pleseant suprise that she was eligible for getting it at a reduced price. She bought her old phone in December of '05, making her eligible for a $100 voucher in October. How did she get this discount, and what was it for?! She said the guy said something about "new standards" and she was eligible for a new phone at a lesser price. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Thank you so much in advance.

My apologies for the vague question. Let me make this a bit easier...


1. My friend got her phone at a reduced price, and this was NOT because she's reached 2 yrs with her phone.

2. She did NOT extend her contract.

3. She was supposed to be eligible for the reduced price for having her phone for two years in OCTOBER.

$100 is usually called new for two they give a phone at a discount , but you contract .is extended two years.
you have a 30 day worry free guarantee if not happy and not want to go to a 2 year contract can escape.
your question is a little vague.

verizon has a new every 2 years plan. when you have had your contract (with your plan being at least 39.99) for 2 full years, you get $100 credit towards a new phone when you re-sign your contract
