OK, there's been a lot of bubbles in the water of one of my betta fish, and I don't know why. He's in a tank by himself, and the only thing I can think of is that maybe they're from him getting agitated cos there's another betta in a tank near him, so maybe he sees him and gets pissed, and makes bubbles. That's my guess.

Anyway, I thought the bubbles would go away when I changed his water, but I noticed they are back again. So I'm guessing that he's creating them.

Is it okay/normal for there to be a lot of bubbles at the top of the water in a betta tank? I mean, two of my other bettas don't have any bubbles, and another one has some, but not to the extent this guy does.

any help would be great! How can I get them to go away, or are they ok?

The bubbles are totally normal. They are simply the male building a bubble nest to try to attract a female. Don't worry about it at all, if you remove it he will just make another. Actually it also indicates he is healthy and happy, keep taking good care of your fish! Good job!

It's just an indication that he's making a bubble nest. The purpose of the bubble nest is to house his baby fish if he were to ever mate with a female betta.

The bubbles are actually bubble nests and nothing at all to do with the other fish. It is perfectly normal to have bubble nests even if it is alone. When two fish mate, they lay eggs in the nests. Some other labyrinth fish(ie they breathe atmospheric air) also make bubble nests.

This is normal for a betta to do, matured male bettas will build a bubblenest when they are sexually matured. It's Ok to just leave the bubble alone, he will just keep building another one once you remove the old one.

your betta is building a nest in anticipation of a girl friend. they place their eggs in the nest of bubbles. so don't worry about it, he's doing his "thing"
