There will be 3 million for the launch. Only some at&t stores will be getting iPhone (company owned stores) and all Apple stores will get them. There will be around 30-50 phones per store. You can camp out, but no pre-orders. It is going to be released 6pm local time.

Yeah, you can go online and pre-order them after the first month or two of them being on the market. It might take a little bit, but you'll get one. And I also know that (I work at Verizon) sometimes they have really good internet specials if you buy online vs. going to a store. Just make sure you shop around first to find the best deal. I don't know what kind of specials at&t has for online shopping.
