Does this sound dangerous? I also feel intense rectal pressure. These cramps occur about every 2 minutes and last for like 15-20 seconds...This all lasts for a few hours. I'm 1 cm and my doctor told me a few days ago that my cervix was "flat". Opinions?

It's common to have more frequent cramps, and sometimes painful cramps and pressure in the groin or rectal area close to the time you go into labor, so I would not worry, esp. if the contractions are going away after a few hours.

Unless you see any bleeding, don't be concerned. Your uterus is just getting ready for the big day. Sperm contains the hormone progesterone which can cause cramping.

It doesn't sound dangerous. Your uterus is probably just contracting. This is very common after orgasm.Plus you are 39 weeks and pretty much due to go into labor any minute now. The rectal pressure is most likely the babies head engaged and low in your pelvis. Your cervix being "flat" means it is thinned out (effaced). All these sounds means that you are going to go into labor very soon!!!! Good luck with your new little bundle of joy.

There is no danger and sex can actually help make labor easier by helping to relax the vaginal canal and cervix. Unless the Dr tells you to stop or there is evidence of rupture it is perfectly safe to have sex up until the day of delivery. If the water breaks - don't have sex it is an infection risk.

All I have to say to you is God bless you for even WANTING to have sex at 39 weeks!!!! I'm 13 weeks and sex is the LAST thing on my mind right now!

I've read that having sex right before your due date will actually help speed up labor if it isn't coming fast enough. Hopefully that will help!

But, I'd still check with your doctor to be sure everything is ok.

You should cut back on the sex, if you climax your cervix will contract and make you feel like you are going into labor. Speak with your doctor

Remember that an orgasm is a contraction. During sex, there is a considerable amount of bloodflow through you abdomen area. Sex is ok right now, but if you lose your mucus plug, DO NOT have sex.
