My son oldest son was named after his father (Michael). My second (Rudy) was named after my father and youngest Joe was named after my husband's father (Joseph).

I was named for my grandmother. (Sandra)

My parents named me after a girl that they went to school with because I was supposed to be a boy so they had to come up with a name fast... My daughter Ariel was named after the little mermaid and her middle name is Vada after the kid in "my girl"... My 2nd daughter was named after Selena, the singer that was killed by her fan club leader and her middle name is Lynne after my mother, my son Adam was named after non other than Adam & Eve, we just liked the name, and his middle name Reid was after my late grandfather... My bestfriend named her son after the lead singer from AreoSmith Steven Tyler...

I go by my middle name, Arielle, & even though I've been called The Little Mermaid most of my life, I was born a few years before the movie. My mom actually got the name Ariel from the movie Footloose & combined it with Elle magazine that was new (she said) then. But my first name, Lynda, that I really don't like, was sorta a deal type thing with her best friend at the time that if she had a girl that she would name me after her...lucky me. The only thing I like is that it's Y instead of I. I wish my first & middle names were switched because it was always a huge hassle growing up in school at the beginning of the year & stuff when they role call telling them "actually I go by my middle name, Arielle" & having to spell it out & making sure they say it right, "it's AIR EE ELLE...yes kinda like the Little Mermaid but ELLE not ERLL..." >.< So word of advice, don't give your kids super crazy, hard to spell names or go by middle names, just make it their first name! So much easier!

I was named after my great grandma. My two step sisters got their names from their mom's favorite soap opera. One of my friends is named after her mom's favorite liquor. Another friend is named after her mom's favorite cowboys cheer leader. It is silly where some people get their names.
