I am planning to have one when my third is born. Baby is due 12/06 but we have a 950 mile trip planned each way for the week after Christmas. Am I likely to still be too sore or do they heal up fairly quickly?

I think the expected recovery time for a tubal is about the same as a c-section - a couple of weeks if you are a quick healer, and as many as 4-6 weeks if you don't bounce back so fast.

You will feel sore and bruised around your belly for a while, but after a week or so it will be just mild pain.

It kind of varies for each women. Some very lucky women say they feel fine after just 1 week.

I had my tubal the day after I had my baby (last year). There was nothing to the tubal. They make about a 1/2 inch incision below the belly button & one inside. They don't even stitch, they use surgical glue. There was no recovery at all to the surgery. Mine didn't hurt one bit, it's like I never had it. It healed quickly. These days they call it a "band-aid" surgery.

You'll be fine as far as the tubal. Now, you may be experiencing soreness from the the birth....

I had a c-section with my daughter who was my last child. So while they were getting her out I had them do a tubal ligation. I didn't feel sore from that at all and it does heal up quickly. The only think I recovered from was my c-section. Good luck.

had it done as day surgery, by laprascope. Two 1/2 inch incisions, one in the belly button, one on the bikini line. healed in a couple of days with no pain, the procedure seems simple, but inside is no different than having major surgery. You need to give yourself 4-6 weeks to get back to normal, same as major surgery. No lifting allowed. I would wait until the baby is at least 6 weeks old, because it will be a problem holding him. It won't seen like he's to heavy, but he will be.
