Nope, you would have to replace the drive. You can pick a DVD burner for about $35 at the local electronics store.

Actually, you need to list more specifications of exactly what your computer has inside. Merely replacing a DVD-rom drive will probably NOT help you....I'm thinking you have a lot more to consider. Battlefield 2142, to my understanding, is very demanding on your Video Card and the amount of RAM you have, along with the speed of the processor. My gut feeling says that there aren't a lot of 4-year-old computers that will run 2142 very well. If you're running a standard issue Dell, Compaq, HP, Gateway or something similar it probably ain't gonna work. My friends who play 2142 are running dual-core processors, around 2GB of RAM, and cutting edge video cards that have a lot of memory on them. (Video cards are expensive so do your homework to see which NVIDIA or ATI video card is the most preferred) For sure, you'll need to satisfy the minimum requirements, like getting a DVD drive but more importantly you'll need to surpass the minimum requirements listed on the 2142 website.

No the DVD will not work in the CD Rom dirves. I would be more worried about the Video Card requirements. To play Battlefield 2, I had to buy a Radeon X series card.
Here are the System Requirements for Battlefield 2124.

If your drive is only a CD-ROM and not DVD-ROM it will not be able to read the disc. Fortunately, DVD drives are pretty cheap online and in stores, so you may be able to purchase one and figure out how to install it with the directions or find a friend who can, or pay a professional.
