remain silent.

if you MUST speak, practice using words in place of cuss words.

Damn = Dang or Dag
Hell = Realistically, Church people LOVE using this word. No Prob.
Shyt = Snap
Goddamn = Gosh Darn
F~ck = Freak, Freaking, or Fudge
Motherf~ck = Mud Fudge
Sonofabytch = Son, Sandwich, Summit
********** = Cork Popper

I'll take a damp stick and beat the health outta ya, you corkpopping, Fudger. Dag right, I don't give a snap what you think.

That actually takes more practice than you'd think to do it right, and NOT let a real curse word slip past you.

So, if in doubt, don't let it out, remain silent.

Of course the most rational solution is to NOT go to church camp, but apparently you are determined to go.

Consider how stupid it makes you sound. There is seldom a need to cuss and if you do it all the time it loses the impact.
Find more creative ways to say what you mean as you can see a habit is hard to break so if you get into the work world you may lose jobs or promotions.

Have someone tell you off when you do. Mostly if you're a constant swear-er, you don't even realise you're doing it! Get someone to clip you over the ear or something when you do it.

Do you know anyone else on camp? Can you ask them to help you, or get them to tell you when you're doing it.

But mostly, think about what you're saying. Some people find swearing really offensive, there are SO many more words to use to describe yourself than four letter ones.

Good luck! God Bless :)

Very good question.

I don't know of any good solutions other than "will power."

I tried to get my husband to stop by initiating a swear jar. When that didn't work, I initiated the no sex tonight. When that didn't work, I initiated no sex for several days. He loves that. However, it didn't work either.

Also, I don't think substituting a bad words for words like "oh shoot" and "darn" is a good idea either. In my opinion, anytime you substitute a bad word for a "favorable" word, it's still a bad word. That's just me I guess. So, try to eliminate the negative words that set the negative mood.

If you cannot express your self, using the Queens English, then I'd suggest a swear box, whereby every time you let go with an obscene curse, it will cost you money. You can donate it to a good cause like cancer research, or a hospital, children home, etc. Have a good day.

Stop hanging around people who cuss. What you hear is normally what you will repeat. ever go on vacation out of town and return home sounding like the people in the cultural setting you visited.

the best way is to boost your vocabulary, because cuss words are used as fillers in conversation. i would also say that you need to think before you speak then you wont ramble out a cuss word in an inappropiate time

Transpose different words. Instead of the F word, say something else. Instead of taking the Lord's name in vain, say Judas Priest or something. It's more mental than anything else. If you want to stop, STOP. Make up your mind not to swear.

Get a big jar and every time you cuss or whatever put a quarter in there.... like anyone ever did that.

start by saying things like "shoot" or "fudge" instead of swearing, then slowly stop saying them.
