Somewhere along the lines of Mike Williams or Troy Williamson?

I think Calvin Johnson may fail to meet expectations for a number of reasons. For starters he's on the Detroit Lions, who have an inferior line and arent able to block for their QB or RB's. That puts a defensive focus on the passing game. This will put pressures on Johnson that he has never faced at the level of talent found in the NFL, not to mention he will face off against great defensive teams such as Philly, Denver, Dallas, and San Diego once each. Also he will go up against Chicago twice this season. So he is going to see tough opposition all season long. He's a rookie on top of everything else, which is a time for learning and getting accustomed to the offensive schemes. He has too much going against him this season to make a great impact on the team, but may have a promising future with the talent he possesses, if the Lions can improve on their many weaknesses in the next few seasons.

I think he will be all that he is touted to be. Mike Williams and Troy Williamson both had attitude problems. Calvin Johnson has a good work ethic and a lot of talent.

Anybody can be a bust. Some guys just have one bad moment, snap an ankle or a leg, that ruins their entire career before it even gets off the ground. I think he is one of the most talented and gifted young players in the NFL. Under the tutelage of an offensive coordinator like Mike Martz, no bust.

Anybody COULD be a big bust. I mean, he could break his ankle in the preseason and never play again. The way Detroit's WRs have panned out recently, it's not entirely unliklely.

If the word "bust" is ever associated with CJ, I think the odds favor it referring to a bust of him sitting in Canton in 20 years. With his talent and work ethic, plus starting his career in a Mike Martz offense, it's hard to see how he goes wrong, so long as he can stay healthy.

I don't think so in college he had good numbers and made some really good catches he was also catching passes from Reggie Ball who is like one of the worst qbs I have ever seen and he could not throw at all so I don't think he'll be a bust too much talent

Johnson is an amazing talent, his ability to beat most anyone for a jumpball is amazing as well as the fact the lions would most likely use their passing game more just because they have one of the best receivers to play the game.

Anyone could be a bust when they have yet to play a down of regular season football in their careers. I'd like to see him play first.
