I read that because of superstition, most hotels change their "13th" floor to "14th".

Only those owned by morons would "skip" designating the 13th floor AS the 13th floor. The equivalent of endorsing a mindless superstition. Just on general principles, I wouldn't stay in one of those if I knew that about it ahead of time.

All hotels (well ones that are more then 13 stories high) have a 13th floor, but they just call it the 14th instead so guest will not get freaked out, after all you can't just leave a whole floor empty. So either way if a hotel skipps the 13th floor and puts the 14th floor in its place it won't make a difference it'll still be the 13th floor with a different name.

yup, but sounds kind of silly doesn't it? not like there is a big space of air where the 13th floor should be. The fourteenth floor is the thirteenth floor. Calling it anything else is just false.

I know of a hospital that I have been that uses the 13th floor as the maintenance floor of the hospital.

i've seen it. along with skipping the 13th room, stuff like that - totally stupid in my opinion. of course the 13th floor usually houses the ultra secret fbi lab, the counterfiet ring, or the architect.
