The only difference is the cache, 2x1MB on the FX-62 and 2x512KB on the 5400+. The FX-62 is better of the two, but you should go for the 6000+. It has the 2x1MB cache, and is faster than either of those two, but is only about $230, cheaper than the FX-62. The FX-62 is more expensive because you are paying for the FX name, but thats all.

AMD FX-62 is a gaming processor. Athlon 64x2 are used in media center type pc. The FX processor is about $280 from www.newegg.com and the X2 costs $163.50. Both processor's speed is 2.8ghz. The difference is the Fx-62 has 1mb * 2 cache and the X2 is 512kb * 2.

FX would be the better for gaming... FX has the extra cache, it helps.

Having half the cache the 5400 does its job ...I ran a AM2 4600+ for the longest time. and it held it's own.
