Doubt they'll be charged. British media coverage showed empathy and sorrow for the parents from day one.

This 100 yards distance from where the kids were left was made to look like it was a few feet away with various camera angles, they emphasized the fact that the kids were being checked on twice hourly as if that was a positive thing, how many times did we hear about the 'distraught parents?!!'

Too much emotional energy (and public's money) has been drained on those two. They will just play it up even more in the media if they are charged, and unfortunately I think some people will always support them. Hey they got the celebs now, who needs common folk to support them?

That mother is cold. Her eyes are dead when she mentions maddy. And her tearless comment in an interview 'I hope they find madeliene, she's lovely' (!!!!) What!!! She's LOVELY!!

Sorry for ranting, kate and gerry need a holiday alright. In jail.

It's all very strange really. I found the Mother irritating from day one, the fact her hair was always immaculate and she changed her earrings daily. I couldn't understand how she could function in that way, I wouldn't give a monkey's about my appearance etc. I know we all have different ways of coping but that's just weird. The appeal fund also annoys me - what are they doing with the money??? As they both work for the NHS they will be entitled to 6 months off work with full pay (I know coz I work for the NHS myself) so they don't need the money themselves so what is going to happen to it?? I felt like shouting at the screen when the Father was saying they had acted responsibly as someone was checking the kids every half an hour!!!!!!!!!!! I was outraged, one of the babies could have been sick or taken ill or anything, disgraceful.

If it had happened here then maybe they would be charged with neglect I doubt very much that any action will be taken, I wonder why other parents of missing children have not received the same public support, I feel sorry for them.

I think the parents acted stupidly - but I suspect they only do what MANY holidaymakers do every single day.

To prosecute them is perhaps a bit steep - certainly the idea of impriosoning them is crazy - and plonk the other children in care so they end up being messed up too? the care sstem in this country is NOT as functional as most people love to think it is.

I suspect that having a child you love taken from you and knowing that it is because you acted stupidly is perhaps more than adequate punishment.

People are NOT infallible. We make mistakes, we DO have accidents. We are not all perfect all of the time. Sadly, sometimes the cost of one of these mistakes is a horribly high price to pay - but quite why we should punish the parents further than they are already being punished is beyond me.

It's true. I'd never leave a 4-year-old and two 2-year-olds alone in a hotel suite or a house, sleeping or not. I would MAYBE pop across the road to the offie, but a restaurant? Never.

From what I've gathered from the various media hype, the kidnappers had been watching them, so they knew the perfect time to take her. My question is, why did they take her and not the other 2?

They probably wont be but they should be investigated as would anyone else in the same circumstances

They are 2 very very clever people who put on a show for the media circus that they have created. They say what they think people want to hear and act in a very controlled and planned manner ....cuddle cat, yellow & green bows , church visits, jogging? (what the hell!) and all that clap trap making excuses for neglect

In the early days they vowed to stay in Portugal until Maddie was found, now its the end of summer....I have a feeling that they know how the public really feel and do not want to answer questions that people are asking so they are avoiding the back lash and taking an extended holiday in Portugal

I cant see them having a warm welcome back home as I think people are now seeing them for what they really are

Remember that German reporter who was villified for asking one question? There'll be many more following in her footsteps believe me!

As they don't seem to have any intention of coming home i doubt it,but they should be! They should come home at end of summer if she hasn't been found and face the music, praps thats what theyr scared of! 'It's like sitting in your back garden and the children being in bed'
Yeh except they weren't in their garden they were down the bloody road and i read the back doors were left open so why did the abducter go thru the front window!I bet they done it before whilst they were there.Apparently family members shared the checks but it was said they weren't checked for at least an hour! I hope Madeleine is found but somehow i doubt it,i'm sure they would have found her by now, although saying that Ben Needham is still missing!

those dad and mom are going to could stay with their determination for something of their lives. in the event that they get Madeline back they won't be waiting to forget what would have been and if the unthinkable, she isn't got here upon, properly sufficient pronounced. I nonetheless think of that she is definitely and that i connect in with all her kinfolk and beg whoever took her to return her, flow away her able to risk-free practices and permit her be got here upon! it rather is not only worried people who would be observing how plenty exposure is generated with the aid of this tale... her abductors must be keeping a watch on complaints to work out if there is something pointing to them!

This is so straight forward. The McCanns left toddlers alone and anything could have happened to them.
In fact, something did happen to one of them - which is why you don't leave them alone.
All this spurious "checking on them" is specious nonsense, like being partially pregnant. You are either with your kids or you're not, and they were not.
They are guilty of child neglect and because they left them some pervert (possibly) had the opportunity to kidnap one (maybe), not something that could have happened if the McCanns had had the kids with them.
Ah but then they'd have to really care about their kids to have done that, so social services, get those twins off them NOW!

In many countries including Portugal its the law that children under five years should not be left alone. So legally its breaking the law. Whether they will be charged remains to be seen. Theres generally one law for the rich and one for the poor.

They should do! i mean what kind of parents leave THREE small children alone and in a place they didnt know! Idiots!
No kids should be left alone and especially at the age they were! Why take your children on holiday with you if you are going to leave them in the hotel room! It doesnt matter how far they were from them they still shouldnt have done it! If that hadnt have happened then something else might have whilst they were unsupervised!
And another thing there have been 5 different possible sightings of her in Malta so WHY are they still in portugal like they are living it up and wasting time keep visiting the church everyday they should be in malta looking!
