Toby Keith will be the first one to tell you that he is not a "political" person and or personality. He has always cared deeply for and stood by his personal beliefs without imposing them or insinuating that he is right or wrong; only that he has the right to them

The person above me gives a great description of the events that surrounded what brought him into the political limelight in the first place. Had it not been for Natalie publicly making a statement about the line in his song "Courtesy of the Red White and Blue", which reads.."We'll shove a boot up your ***"; there never would have been a right side/left side political debate or name slinging in regard to Toby Keith. It is the main reason that any of his personal beliefs were ever brought into the public limelight.

The Dixie Chicks were on the political hotseat for the statement made, they then made reference to Toby's song being ignorant and he made a statement back. Through that course it was brought out that Toby Keith was a registered Democrat and that is when the 'parties' started taking sides for their own self serving reasons. Like all politics it stems from people not taking the time to inform themselves and managing to latch on to anything they can and run with it. Toby Keith has enumerated many times over that he is not pro-war but pro-troops and feels they should be supported, irrespective of politics and so he does his USO tours once a year for his own personal show of support and for no other reason. It is not political, just something he chooses to do.

Because his song drew a lot of patriotism from listeners and along with the timing of its release, it naturally became a theme song and used in a lot of politically themed events. Those that stood for it naturally had to face those that stood against what ever message it was being used for. The sad part is that some people can not separate the "man" from the message even when it was not "his" message.

Music is a powerful tool and can stir a lot of emotion which can sometimes be a good thing and often times not so good. It is all relative. The same goes for the Dixie Chicks...I may not particuarly care for Natalie but it certainly does not mean that I can not appreciate her talent. Some people have the ability to make the distinction..Just my opinion

It started with a comment Natalie Maines made in an interview about Toby Keith's "Courtesy Of The Red, White and Blue". She said the song was ignorant, and it makes country music sound ignorant. The two of them took shots at each other in several interviews. The feud escalated when Maines said she was ashamed to be from the same state as President Bush and she wore a shirt with the letters F.Y.T.K. while she was presented an award at one of the Country Music Award shows. I haven't heard much about them bickering lately but they are on opposite ends when it comes to politics.

It all started when the Dixie Chicks bashed President Bush and Toby wrote a song about 9/11 and now people don't like Toby because he tells it like it is. Which I think is what this world needs more of! I personally like Toby's music and think he is a great singer and actor!

Nothing! I love Toby. My cousins husband lives next to Toby in fact. (Somewhere in Moore,OK I think)...but The Dixie Chicks got mad when he wrote a song about 9/11. He stands up for the U.S.A and supports our troops. So nothing is bad about him. I love the song about 9/11 which is call "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue"...awesome song

Toby Keith is a douche, and proves he's uneducated approximately something. a million) The Taliban did no longer reason us problems, non have they completed any terrorist acts against us, until we invaded Afghanistan. 2) It grow to be Al'qaeda that attacked us, no longer the Taliban; and the two Iraq and Iran had no longer something to do with it. 3) The Taliban and Al'qaeda have been scuffling with each and each-different until we invaded. 4) faith is terrorism.

Short and sweet. The Dixie Chick went over seas and bashed the president after 9-11. and when Toby wrote a song about 9-11 they bashed him and that is what started it all. I myself think he is a great artist.
