Depp is ok for me but I'm not too crazy about Cruise & Costner. I like actors who makes good movies but keep a low profile. Actors that want you to talk about the movie & their acting skills & not how big is their house, what designer clothes are they wearing, or what fancy car are they driving. Actors like Christian Bale, Josh Lucas, Gabriel Macht, & Paul Walker.

I think he is quite good and very versitile in his roles, where Kevin Costner and Tom Cruise have become quite stationary in their roles. People just don't like Johhny because he's so pretty and keeps to himself. Wanting privacy doesn't make one a jerk. I find it quite noble.
Tom and Kevin are jerks too, I;ve never seen as many close ups as I did when Kevin Costner directed himself in Waterworld and The Postman.
I disagree with Tom Cruise being "underated". He's recieved several cudos from critics and several award nominations (including 2 oscar nods). For the longest time he was in the top 10 on Forbes most powerful lists among other lists to do with high paycheck and grosses from films. Up until his Oprah couch fiasco he was one of the most popular actors of all time per fan ratings.
You might want to do a little research before making a statement like "Tom Cruise is underrated".

I think Johnny Depp is a great actor...he evokes emotion in people..making people hate him or like him..which are what makes him a great actor....
Tom Cruise is a has been that flies off the handle at the drop of a hat..the only reason that made him big is because he was good looking.

Johnny Depp is not overrated he has been acting for quite a long time and been very good at it but because of Jack sparrow he has become quite a bit more popular. overrated would be Tom Cruise. sorry Tom just bores me he plays every character the same way.

he's no longer very solid now and you will thank Tim Burton for that. i think of he grew to become into fairly solid as Hunter S.
