The police are socialized. So is the fire department. Also the postal service. and the library.
Are all of those things EVIL and BAD?

I hate to burst your bubble, but the LIBERALS(Democrats) don't want this country to be scialized! You need to start laying off the herbal essence some because that's basically a falsehood. The only thing they want "socialized" is health care. What have you got against socialized health care? The COUNTRIES that HAVE socialized health care are functioning normally. You're the one who has the fantasy here. They still want a democracy, they only want universal health care so EVERYONE, not just the douchebags with six figure incomes, have access to the best care possible.

Our government was formed for "WE THE PEOPLE."
It currently, after Reagan and two Bushs has become: "We the Corporations."
The U.S. is the only Western Democracy with a For-Profit healthcare system that lines the pockets of Insurance Companies, HMOs, Hospitals, Pharmacuetical Corporations and Politicians to the detriment of the patients who are overcharged, denied coverage or uninsured.
Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea and Venezuela all have Single-Payer Healthcare and spend one tenth as much on administrative costs.

I think people are looking for affordable health care. The average person is unable to afford it at this point. When you need help, you grasp at straws. Maybe a tweaked form of socialized health care is what people in general are looking for. Not just Liberals. Getting affordable health care does not mean that the whole system needs to become socialized or that the USA is not a great nation. ........ Looking fore ward to the SICKO movie. :)

In the words of William Wallace as portrayed by Mel Gibson "What will you do without freedom?" Socialization is removing all the freedoms we currently enjoy. Like the freedom to say what we want oh wait a minute we can't even do that because of the politically correct crowd, OK let's see how about freedom of association, oops if you are a member of the Boy Scouts of America the politically correct crowd calls you a homophobe and racist. So what will you do without freedom, our freedoms are slipping away and we sit here on yahoo answers and nothing gets done about it. So my question is the answer to your question.

Not all of them do.
If you see everything as liberal/conservative or democrat/republican you miss the 49% of Americans that view themselves as moderate/independant.
Most Americans are neither left or right but somewhere in the middle.
We have comon ground but leaders of both parties want to keep us polarized to one side or the other.
We need to come together and take back our country from professional gas bag politicians.
Anybody else ready to bury the hatchet?

We don't!!
What is realized is the world is moving into a global ecomony. Like it or not. Thanks to Clinton and NAFT which was to do Canada and Mexico. Bush liked the idea so much he has added other counties to it.
How do we compete?? Many companies are leaving the United States to other areas where they don't have to offer employees health care.
While socialize health care might not be the solution. something has to be done to keep jobs in America. It's better then what the republican side has offered up that's nothing.

Because they live in a dream world where socialized medicine actually works, which it does not. Because they are elitists and want to control everything and everybody under the sun. So that they can have a 70% income tax rate so they can live the elitist lifestyle with fat paychecks. Because they think they can run your life better than you can. Everything the government controls is a failure, including social security .
