I need some ideas of where to go for a weekend getaway with my husband for our third anniversary. We live in Southern Cali if that helps! And also ideas of what to do wherever you pick!!

Well it's going to depend on how much you have to spend.
If you can afford it, you can't beat staying at an ocean front hotel in Santa Barbara. The same goes for San Diego, either on Coronado or by the Sea Port Village. In Santa Barbara, you can go to the beach, some great wine tasting, wonderful restaurants and shopping. Pretty much the same in San Diego including the fun Gas Lamp District right next door.
For a bit less money, you can go to Solvang or Temecula. They both have hot air ballooning, wine tasting, hiking, and gambling. Solvang sits in one of the best wine producing areas in the nation, the movie "Sideways" was shot there.
All of those areas are only a couple hours from you.

You have more options than most of us, and depending on what time of year that your anniversary is on, can affect those options.
For example, if it's in the winter, how about Big Bear or similar and go skiing; take a ride up PCH and grab a B & B around Santa Barbara, or even better, stay at the Fess Parker Resort and take a tour of his winery; get a great hotel room right in the middle of downtown L.A. and visit all the tourist trap places that you're never gone to and treat yourself to the best restaurants; if you're into sports, you have access to more teams than anyone; go find a place in the desert; you can rent a motorhome and have a great time.
