my warranty is not covering my broken radiator because I don't have paperwork showing it was flushed. however, my engine was replaced about a year ago and im wondering if the radiator was flushed or replaced at the same time.

It all depends on the age and condition, however it is a really good idea to do it.
Check the hoses and thermostat as well and make sure there are no air pockets when you fill the system with coolant.
The last thing you want is to cook your new engine.

It will be the best to have the radiator cleaned and pressure checked. Remember that by the time the engine needs a rebuilt the radiator did the same "time" as the engine so it will definately not be in the best of conditions.
A radiator that is not working 100% can ruin an engine very easy and you do not want that on a newly reconditioned engine!
Have that radiator cleaned and checked!

its a good idea to get it flushed and pressure tested. Depending on how the original engine failed the radiator may be bad or need cleaning.

You dont want to risk the new engine with a bad radiator.

Testing all the hoses and flushing the heater core is a good idea too.

It is not a necessity to change the radiator. However, if the previous engine suffered from a head gasket failure, then it would be wise to run a water hose flush out through the radiator for 10 minutes to clear any residual sludge.

No need to exchange it unless it is or has been a problem in the past, but you should take it to a radiator shop for cleaning inside and pressure testing,if needed repair you can get it done,Take advice from the radiator dealer because if it looks like you may have problems in the near future,it would be best to replace it.The radiator needs to be working in good order always because if it is clogged or restricted in some way,it could harm your new motor.

It would be a good idea. I put a rebuilt engine in a 78 mustang a few years ago & it would overheat at highway speed. Had it flushed & it didn't help. After installing a new radiator it ran at normal temperatures.

rereading your question 3 times gave me this answer.:
I am pretty sure when you had a rebuilt engine put it....they most likely did NOT do any cleaning or flushing of the radiator.....unless you told them to.
they replaced the engine ...thats it..

No, it doesn't need to be replaced. However, if you think it might be clogged, flushing would be an acceptable alternative to replacement.

It is a good idea. Might as well start out clean.
