I truly believe someone else is aware of the situation.Perhaps they are being blackmailed to keep quiet,or they are hoping for a a cut of the ransom money,If they don't report information regarding Madeleine they will be classed as holding back vital information and that is against the Law.Prerhaps someone is unsure if it is Madeline and they are awatching and waiting.

something is really suspisious!cant see how parents could neglect kids like this!!! especially parents that are a source og helping the society!they should have known the laws...whether in the uk or outside!
as for maddie being sighted in malta??? i find it strange as to see her there now after 50days!!malta is in the middle of the mediterranean,so if maddie was seen with a man in marocco in the beginning of the investigation, what is she doing now in malta?are they taking her back to portugal.....?????
this is what the maltese newspapers said........:
A massive police hunt for missing British girl Madeleine McCann has failed to yield results, even if there are now a dozen reports claiming the child has been spotted in Malta.
The police said last night that every conceivable precaution is being taken to try and justify the claims as Madeleine's photo has been distributed to port officials and all police officers on the beat.
However, when contacted, a spokesman for the McCanns said the family is not giving any credence at this point to the Malta claims.
A spokesman for the family told The Times yesterday: "We are getting reports of sightings in different places, from Malta to Morocco, but the parents cannot afford to put their energy into them. They are focusing more on the campaigns to boost awareness of her disappearance". The global campaign about Madeleine's plight has led to a string of alleged sightings in countries, spanning from Argentina to Morocco. The girl disappeared from her bed 50 days ago, while her parents Gerry and Kate McCann dined at a nearby restaurant in the Praia da Luz Algarve resort in Portugal.
The police last night revealed that the first report made of a girl matching the four-year-old's description dates back three weeks.
On May 27, the police received a report from a Maltese woman who said she had seen a girl in Valletta resembling Madeleine - a week earlier.
On June 17, the police received and investigated a report by two English women who claimed they had seen Madeleine near the Valletta bus terminus. The girl was in the company of a middle-aged woman and they were spotted boarding a bus, and stopping at St Paul's Bay.
After these claims were reported by In-Nazzjon on Thursday, the police received seven other reports that the girl was seen in Valletta, Sliema, Mdina and Marsascala over the past days.
A Maltese man reported seeing a girl resembling Madeleine at the Zejtun feast last Sunday. He even managed to take a photo of the girl on his mobile phone, but upon closer investigation, the image did not match Madeleine's features.
The police received another two reports yesterday claiming the missing girl was seen in Marsascala and Bahar ic-Caghaq in the past days.
On the other hand, the police raised questions about a report in the British press quoting a certain Ray Roberts that blonde Madeleine had been spotted in Sliema wearing a black wig. Mr Roberts did not file a police report and did not testify.
Despite the negative results so far, the police made it clear they would keep monitoring the case closely, in coordination with Interpol.
The McCanns marked the 50 days of their daughter's disappearance yesterday with the launch of 50 yellow helium filled balloons with an appeal in 50 countries worldwide.
Asked whether the parents will be taking up the invitation by Xarabank for them to come to Malta and continue their appeal for her return, the family spokesman said this was unlikely.

I suggest from the distressing and frustrating lack of real information that:-
1.It is not a kidnapping for extortion.
2.A very small group (possibly 1 or 2) are involved. As where a large number of perpetrators are complicit someone would either break or leak info by now.

I agree with Rosie, i don't think Madeleine ever left Praia da Luz.
Are there any building works close by? Have they been searched/excavated? Morbid i know, but a serious possibility?

Why do people keep calling it a kidnapping. There has been no evidence to support that. No forced entry etc. So yes I do believe the parents know something. Well if somebody knew what happened to her then they would be guilty of something therefore they are going to stay hush hush. Or they are getting hush money.

It's the most amazing case: the poor child seems to have dropped off the planet. You would have thought someone would have seen something. No police, immigration officers, customs officers saw a thing. I doubt whether she ever left Portugal or perhaps even never left Praia de Luz.

It is probably a sexual predator who either lives close by or was vacationing there during that time, it HAD to be someone who had seen the McCanns and knew they were not in that room with the kids.
SO, they really need to focus on every single person who was there during that stay. Also remember there are a LOT of huge pedophile rings in the UK (as well as everywhere else) and they take these girls and start selling them out.
I once came across a website when I opened up a song on morpheus (it was a fake link) that led to a website that had like 12 girls posted on it. It had a bio for each girl and a face pic of each one and they had makeup and jewelry on, and this website looked like a totally professional website. Well, these girls were up for sale, you had to join to get to see their pics, and they ranged in age from like 7 to 11 and it was a site from the UK. I reported it to the FBI immediately, and I HOPE that those people got busted but it just goes to show, that MANY of the missing girls these days are probably being used in this very manner as HARD AND AS SAD AS THAT IS TO COMPREHEND. I saw it with my very own eyes, and I could not believe what I was seeing.

if it was as well planned out an abduction as we are lead to believe the only people who know will be involved and with all the coverage and everything even being involved in the slightest would be petrifying so somebody out there is keeping this to themselves
hopefully it doesnt cost madeleine her life
