I am being evicted. I have no job. I live in Chicago, and I'm white. Any cheap rental or homeless shelters I go to I will be the only white guy there, which will be a very awkward situation, to say the least. I will walk or ride a bicycle anywhere in the country at this point. There is no reason for me to be here anymore. The question is where can I go with no job history, no rental history and bad credit, even if I do find a job? Who will let me rent from them? I have no criminal record, no drugs, or insane asylum history. I'll walk to f u cking Omaha or whatever. I don't care.

I know it's a long way, but the Raleigh-Durham area has the best job market in the U.S. according to Forbes magazine. Albuquerque, N.M. is also high on the list. See if you can find an archive at the library of recent Forbes magazine articles. I'm think that article was in the last 3 months. They analyzed available job markets throughtout the U.S. I'm sure there are some good prospects closer to you, but my memory isn't that good.

If you are willing to work, with your clean personal history you can undoubtedly find a job. Maybe not one you really want, but at least you will be able to pay your bills. This should be your first priority. Once you're back on your feet financially you can look forward to getting a better job. There are many public and private organizations that can help you. Catholic Family Charities is one of the best in my area. The composition of your question indicates intelligence and education. Put it them to use, and don't give up on yourself!! Good luck, and God bless!!!!!!

Believe it or not, there are white people in homeless shelters. Call they Salvation Army, or go to another church and see if they can refer you some where. The YMCA often has rooms to rent. You have to get a job, even if it is fast food, until you get on your feet. How old are you? If you are a teen, you can probably find a place specific for teens. Good luck.

You'd be surprised how many white guys are in a homeless shelter. Check it out, and then walk to Omaha if you don't agree.
And for the record, I've been there, done that. I went to Salt Lake City and got my act together but it's not for everyone.

Hitch-hike west out into farm country, ask for farm work in all the small towns along the way, farmers always need an honest person who isn't afraid of work this time of year........And you might learn not to get yourself into this situation again.
