This is tough one..........

Let's look at some of the traits of each animal.

Hippo.....Very Large (Heavier than a Rhino), What a Mouth!!!!!!......Extremely aggressive........Mostly Plant eating......Spends most of time in water......uses size, powerful jaws, and teeth as weapons.

Rhino..........Very Large........Has one or two horms (depending on species) made of hair........docile unless threathened..........Grazers (Plant eating)........Spends most of time on land. Only weapons are horn(s) and size.

OK, let's look at what we have now. A couple of things that jump out at me are, the hippo's spending most of it's time in water, and the rhino mostly on dry land. Secondly, that they are both plant eaters (for the most part in the hippos case). Both of these traits would make a confrontation between the two highly unlikely.

However, if it did happen, I think the one thing about the two animals that would set them apart, is there disposition. Rhinos are slow to get angry and attack, where as hippo's are just the opposite. I think that this would be the deciding factor.

I think the Rhino would be attacked by the hippo, without provocation and suffer a mortal blow. However, if both were matched up, and both were in an aggressive mode, I think the advantage may go to the rhino, a charge and clean hit from a rhino, would probably do the hippo in. But remember, the rhinos only weapons are it size and horn, while the hippo has a much more formidable arsenal. Plus the fact, that in most cases, the hippo is a larger animal.

I think it is almost a draw, but I give a slight advantage to the hippo.

Good question!!!!!!!!

I'm going to have to give this one to the Hippo. In Africa the cause more deaths than even the deadliest snakes. They are extremely aggressive too. The only time the two might meet each other would be in the hippo's domain (near water) so the rhino would be at a huge disadvantage. As for the rhino's horn, well it's even near the size of the hippo's tooth which can crush a man in half. Yeah give it to the hippo. Plus they got those funny ears that wiggle funny!

If it were a black rhino at 3,000 pounds and a patriarch bull hippo at 6,000 pounds or more I'd say the hippo. If it were a smaller 4,000 pound female hippo and a white rhino at up to 8,000 pounds I'd go with the white rhino. Equal size and weight I'd say it'd be a standoff with neither side gaining the advantage or upperhand until one of them sees no point in the confrontation anymore and walks away.

The hippo, on an analogous time as deadly in genuine existence, is the greater joyous looking and cuter of the two. Rhinos take me back to the fact of a overweight toddler donning a helmet, that's beautiful too, yet no longer as plenty so through fact the overweight cheeked hippo that seems waiting to do a Chris Farley effect at any 2d.

I dont think a hippo would be much of a match against a rhinos strength or its horns.

Hmmmm... I think maybe a hippo would win because they have better eyesite than a rhino. But the rhino is purty strong too... Tis tough!
