Yes. You can always learn something new being open minded. Closed minded people are always arguing their point of view, and by doing that they miss alot in life. I wouldn't want to be like that. There is so much to learn. Living on earth each day is like being in school.

Being open-minded simply means not judging what you hear until you've listened and understood the points being made. After you've acknowledged the ideas being discussed, THEN it is time to decide what to do about it. You can:
* Make a judgement call
* Research or listen to counterpoints to the idea or argument
* Decide it's not worth investigating further
* Feel strongly enough about the subject to make it more important in your life
The topic you should be the most open-minded about is any topic anyone tells you NOT be open-minded about.

it is good to be open minded but not about everything. somethings just don't warrant taking to consider each aspect of something look at pedophilia those folks will try and have you sympathize with them saying they were born with those feelings.but are you really going to take the time to see it thier way why should you have an open mind about something like that when they should have an open mind about self control. or lets look at every year at easter in the phillipines people will actually have them selves crucified i'm not having an open mind about that to me thats just stupid and i would say that to thier faces. you just have to pick and choose what you think you should have an open mind about

It is definitely good to be open-minded. About everything. It is also good to be skeptical about everything.
Think of it like a balancing scale. It is worthless without one pan on each side. One adds and one subtracts. By opposition they work together.
So too must your arguments run. You must always know ALL sides of any argument, and you must accept that maybe what you don't believe is actually so, and you must accept that maybe what you do believe might actually not be so.
If you do not, what do you have? Unbalance. Randomness. Waste. Wouldn't you rather have reason, justice, and efficiency?

I think it's good to have understanding about everything, which is basically being open-minded. But you wouldn't necessarily have to accept any given beliefs etc if you didn't actually believe them. But I do think it's good to "accept things" and understand them.

In my opinion, being open minded is being open to the argument. If it conflicts with your moral compass of right and wrong, you reject the argument. I'm closed minded to outright evil. Why even hear that argument? I know from the get go I'll reject it. Use your common sense and logic, it will serve you well. Blessings on you.

Yes, but its hard because we have preconcieved ideas on many subjects and sometimes these can be very strong, but if we can we'll learn more and understnd people so much better.
