China is also a nuclear power. If thats the option someone chooses then China can certainly retaliate. Make China trade fairly instead of favorably and they won't be able to afford such a massive military. If China is growing as a military power, we are the ones paying for it by allowing and encouraging imbalanced trade policy to enrich a relative few people.

I believe I've heard that sort of rumor before - I think it was in writings from the pulp era - the 'yellow hordes' thing. That'd give them about 20 years left on that 100-year plan.
But, yes, maintaining a balance of power in the nuclear arena should continue to deter agression among superpowers - like the USA, Russia, and China - for the foreseable future.

We don't have enough information on the government to answer this question . Being the United States we are and having the leaders we've had I don't think China will have anymore power than we want them too! Where did you get your information? Do you work for the Chinese government?

Economic strain would slow China's threat. Our trade imbalance with China is $232B US dollars a year. With that kind of money flowing in, China is well funded to grow militarily, as well as industrially. The US could stop importing Chinese goods as a way to quell Chinese military concerns.

Despite what you hear from Rush and other rightwingers, the Chinese spend a fraction of what we do on the military. Their focus is on building their economy to provide their people with a better way of life.
Why would we want to nuke each other? We are huge trading partners. A war of any kind would send both economies into a depression.

For republicans war is the only option ever used. Dictators get a lot done don't they? It's pretty easy when you kill all those that don't agree with you. Bush the decider and Cheney the puppet master would love to be head dictators here in the US.
Nuclear war would be devastating to the entire planet. If that is the only option then we need to live for today only because tomorrow won't be there.

Not yet. The Chinese also realize that nuclear war is so messy for everyone that it can't be won. Continued innovation in US conventional arms making us superior in ways which can't be overcome is still the best countermeasure.

Sure, solve the problem by killing everyone. China has lots of nuclear weapons, and would launch them right back at whoever attacks them. Wasn't it Stalin who said "no man, no problem"? We ALL know what a visionary thinker he was...
