You would be more ashamed if you knew what a mess our politics are in. But one of the reasons for the mess is the non-participation of so many potential voters. Maybe you should read some of the posts here for a time, and see if it clarifies things, or perhaps find some other means of wading into waters. It really is your civic duty to vote, and to vote intelligently.

Sure, just don't form an opinion on anything if all you've done is watch Fox News for 10 minutes -- keep an open mind.

Well, I give you a quick lesson.

Republicans usually favor smaller government which in theory means less taxes.
Democrats are in favor of larger government and social programs which usually mean higher taxes.

Simplifying even more:

you may be better off because it makes no difference that our elected officials doesn't care in the least how we feel or what we want just what the big companies who line their pockets want. It would only make you upset. I sometimes wish I didn't know.
