Does your surge protector have an insurance policy with it? Mine is a Belkin and it says your computer is insured by Belkin. If that ever happens to mine, I hope the policy is good and pays off. I don't completely trust any of them though, and always unplug and unplug the phone wire too, if I have time before the storm hits.

hmmm...

It's not fried, because it is completing the POST routine. Most likely it is a hard drive failure as it does not get past the splash screen. Though there is a chance it is memory as well.

First thing I would do though, If you have a dial-up modem that was attached to the phone line, remove that from the system and see if the computer work without it.

That is the most common issue after a T-Storm.

If that doesn't do it, you will have to bring it in to have someone look at it.

Its possible something happened with the bios. Intel motherboards have a jumper on them that will allow you to reset the bios. I would try that before giving up on the computer. Try disconnecting the power completely from the computer for a few minutes first.

If you purchased it on a credit card, you may be covered.
