i agree with you. barry is just an unfortunate scapegoat since he is going to break the hr record. he has yet to be convicted of taking steroids and even IF he did, so do half of all mlbers. and besides, when did steroids help you with hand eye coordination? it doesnt, steroids allows you to heal faster and build up muscle, without good eye coordination you wouldnt hit the ball 30 ft. barry is and was a HOFer before he allegedly took steroids. he is the greatest player of our generation and managers and pitchers still fear him at the age of 43. nobody will ever come close to his IBB record.

Barry bonds was always a good hitter the roids just made his warning track flyouts home runs, the reason roger clemens doesnt get all of this is because before he was bigger he did the same thing, always threw mid upper 90s from day one. Barry bonds on the other hand before steroids was hitting 30's home runs a year a few in the 40's to all of a sudden upper 40's then 73!

It's not that I hate Barry Bonds, I knew he was doing steroids. Anyone who saw him those previous seasons and then saw how bulked up he was all of the sudden should have known. Especially when McGwire started bulking up and smashing baseballs like bottles. That was b4 Barry made the "big" jump. McGwire was pretty open about the Andro, but I think that was a cover-up 4 what he and others, including Barry, were doin. He should'nt be allowed to be in the record books with Ruth and Aaron. He just should'nt. I mean, if the guy can't be honest and all.... But , with what's going down with Giambi right now it's going to be intersesting to see what's going to happen to Barry and a lot of other guys. I don't hate Barry, I just don't think he should be in baseball anymore. Hank Aaron's record is a record of strength, endurance and courage. Look what he had to go thru... If Barry breaks it what will he have accomplished. He cheated. You know it, I know it and he knows it. Barry breaking the record won't mean anything to anybody except Barry.... and maybe the Devil cause Barry's gonna have a hard time trying to get his soul back.

Barry Bonds is a jerk. Yes, I did buy the "Honk If You Think Bonds Sucks" from barrysucks.com. And guess what? I got A LOT of honks. You can't take steroids. That is plain old CHEATING. And no, he was not in Cooperstown before 2001. You have to be retired before you can go to the Hall Of Fame. I believe that he should go to the Hall BUT with the asterisk (*). I am from Pittsburgh. I feel strongly about this because I watched him play as a rookie. I have his autograph from his first game. When he hits a home run I clap and boo. He WAS a great player and should go to the Hall. But that steroid incident just messed up his career.

Who cares what he did before he took steroids? He still did something that is considered cheating. I do think Roger took steroids too but there is less media scrutiny on Roger for two reasons. One, Barry is a jerk to everyone including the media while Roger is for the most part always nice to the media. Two, Barry is chasing a pretty big record while Roger is just chasing dollar signs. I think Barry WAS a great player...had he chosen not to take steroids he (in my opinion) would have been hall of fame worthy. To me he is just a cheater though. I don't think Roger should get in either but most likely. Barry, Roger, McGwire, and Sosa will all go to the hall and it is a shame!

I don't want Bonds breaking Aaron's record but I still think he is one of the greatest hitters ever. A lot of people took steroids this era (including a lot of pitchers Bonds has faced) yet no one has put up the numbers Bonds has. There was a four year period from '01 to '04 where Bonds' OBP was over .500 (it was .609 in '04 over a 147-game span). Even if he took ever steroid under the sun that's an amazing accomplishment.

Please continue thank god some reason in the line of sanity that plagues the carreer of Bonds. Let us not forget about this small thing that brought the game back to America. When games were won by 1 to 0 was anyone really watching the answer was no. Then baseballs start flying out of the ball park and everyone watches but there has to be a reason so blame it on steriods not the fact that baseball livened up the ball and great hitters (Bonds) starting putting the ball out of the park. One more thing I'm not sure how steriods help a person hit the ball out of the park because it doesn't effect hip turn or bat speed, but those who argue steriods hit the home runs please explain.
EDIT: Of course now that you have explained that steriods were banned in the Era in which he was taking them oh but wait some of them weren't were they even if he was taking them if it was in that time frame a time were the steriods were not banned he should still be counted out. I don't think so. This also being said I haven't yet heard of Bonds being suspended for failing a drug test but have heard Palmero should he two not make the HOF for all he has accomplished in this game. Let us not forget Bonds is not David Ortiz here he actually can play defense. Well could shall we say a i think 7 time gold glover but of course steriods helped there to huh?

Using steroids was a criminal offense and this man must be banned from baseball for life. If betting got that other guy banned for life and eliminated from hall of fame, then this is more serious. Also some of his home runs were officially counted while he was on Steroids which should invalidate and he should have gone to zero (0) because that put into question anything he ever did before he was caught. He can't just say I started on such and such a date and be believed. He is a criminal and his believability is also zero (0). We do not hate him as we really hate no one - ever - we just want justice. A criminal is a criminal is a criminal and if Paris Hilton goes to Jail - then why not druggie baseball players. Because of this - Baseball is officially dead in this country.

My attitude is that there are way too many "stat snobs" as fans. Fantasy sports have diminished the beauty and joy of baseball. There are plenty of players who have done things to gain an advantage. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
The greatest player I ever saw in person was Roberto Clemente. He was a 5-tool player and played the game with class and joy.
Let's focus on the great game baseball is rather than worrying whether or not Reyes or Pujols is a better fantasy player. Or whether or not Barry should have an asterisk. Pete Rose was a great player and a lousy person. It is my job to teach my children the difference between Rose, Bonds, and Clemente.

Steroids help nothing but make your muscles grow, so tell me that Barry's muscles, which people have not proven have come from steroids were hitting those homeruns. You need good hand-eye coordination, or you can't get a hit let alone a homerun, being strong helps, but not as much as hand-eye coordination. Barry deserves the hall, he won't make it though. I also agree, why does no1 talk about Clemens, Barry is a tough individual.

What makes you think he only took steroids for a year?...Get real...Hank Aaron didn't have the luxury and didn't need them, Bonds is obviously one of the best hitters in the game, but on his way to the Hall, the steroids are a part of his story, unlike Hank Aaron...
