As far as I know you don't get anything. I have done some investigatng and havent found out anything. I think its just bragging rights. A way to keep people involved in asking and answering. Here is what Yahoo! says...
"While you can't use points to buy or redeem anything, they do allow everyone to recognize how active and helpful you've been. (And they give you another excuse to brag to your friends.) "
If you click on the number of points next to your picture, it will pull up a chart on the points.

actually the proper ting to say is " why do you get points " not just "point"
and under reptiles ? gosh so out of place!
well you can click on the points you have or your level and a chart will appear and this will tell you all about the points and levels. they give us points as a kind bait for answering questions honestly. everyone feels good when you get points. so than you answer more questions. its all about tricking us to waist our time lol but you help others which is good !

You need a certain amount of points to get to each level. There are 7 levels and in each level you get more privlages. For example- you are allowed to ask more questions on the higher levels, and you recieve more points for answering Qs. If you click on your avatar, it will show you how many points you have, and how many points you need to get to the next level. On level 7, you get UNLIMITED to how many questins you ask and answer.

77 points is not alot my friend, You have to earn more points, remeber youve just wasted 5 points on this question. Earn these 5 back by answering questions, if you have no points, you have no questions.
