Tell them you love and care about them. Explain theat comminting sucide doesn't solve their problems it just creats questions and sadness for the people who love them. Suicide is a very selfish act and only hurts others.

I think once a person has made up his/her mind to commit suicide, there is no way to stop them. Suicide hurts those left behind. Regardless of the outcome, you are not responsible. If you feel the need to do something to help, just let the person know you care and are there to listen with an open heart and mind.

I've known people who have considered suicide who were not thinking rationally. They knew many reasons why they should not kill themselves, but despite all these reasons they felt hopelessness, despair, and sadness anyway. These are the people who most need support and love to bring them around to another way of thinking.

I've also known people who were pretty rational when they were thinking of suicide. Yet in the cases I'm familiar with their reasoning was based at least in part on faulty data. These are the people who can be reasoned out of suicide if you can track down some of the faulty presumptions and disprove them.

In most cases though, I think people WANT to be convinced not to commit suicide on one level or another. It's reaching and speaking to that level that can be the tough part! Peace.

Total despair is hard nut to crack. How well do you know this person? If not well, find someone who does. a lot depends on their reasons. If they are terminally ill and in horrible pain, you can't really blame someone for wanting release. If the pain is emotional then they need therapy with someone who is conversant with that problem. I commend you for caring. You sound like a real friend and we all need them. Go with your common sense and logic and leave your heart at home. Very hard advice but just might work. Blessings on you.

People have no will to live if they don't have anything meaningful in their life and they have no hope. Get them to find meaning, something personal, give them hope that something good can happen in their life either for themselves or those around them.

Unless they completely do not believe in God, tell them that willingly throwing away God's gift of life to them is one of the worst insults to God, as well to all people who ever cared about them. Tell them you understand that they want to kill themselves, but that actually doing it is something so regrettable because it can never be changed.

Remind them of the people who will be so hurt and saddenned by their actions. All those people see great value in this person. They love this person dearly and if they see something great in that person then there is something worth living for (besides great food, sports, fun with friends, etc)

first thing you do is call the suicide hotline and see where the closest place is to give this person the help they need. give you alittle tip one who says they are going to do it really aint' they just want your attention. those who do go thru with it 98 percent of time say nothing at all. another thing is God never puts you thru to much. nothing you can handle

Tell them how they make a difference in ur life and in others lives, how u and others will b affected by their decision. Tell them how much u mean to them, an make them understand the gravity of their decision. Everyone has troubles but we have to face them. If god gives us troubles, he also gives us the strength to overcome them. Life is too precious to just take away like that. Make them realize the beauty of life, and the things they would miss, if they take their life. God bless. I hope he/she changes his/her mind. Best of luck!

Explain that free will has its limits? Tell them Jesus loves them? Assure them that being human is a true gift? Make them feel guilty about all who will suffer because of their "selfishness"? Explain that all is darkest before the dawn? Mention that off world benevolent agencies are coming to our rescue? Guaranty them that most of the present administration will be publicly executed, after due process, of course, and it's more than worth waiting for? Etc.....? :)))
