Maybe if there was a picture we could give you an answer.

A picture would really help out this question. But here's some help.

I have short hair, and I like it like that, I don't like to wear earrings a lot. I am a cross between punk, and a prep. Don't ask about that. I wear converse, dark shirts, and jeans. I hate skirts, and stuff. I try to make my hair look nice and girlie (ugh), while I can still get away with wearing the clothes i like. I put on little bit of make-up also ( eye liner, and mascara)

I would suggest to you, that maybe you can wear some eyeliner, or maybe some mascara. Maybe you can clean yourself up a little, sometimes you have to change your style a little bit, who knows maybe you will like it.

I guess it is also how you were raised. While I was growing up i hung out with boys more than girls, after all, my neighbor was a boy. I guess if it really matters to you and it hurts to hear your mother say that, you might want to change with a little makeup and a different style. Nothing drastic. I changed myself just a tad bit, and I feel more self-confidant, i like the new me as well.

Hope all turns out well. Best of luck to you. Deanna.

Your picture doesn't show up, so it's hard to say...but if folks think you look like a guy, what can you do to make a more feminine appearance (if that's what you want). Perhaps some curl to your hair; if it's really short, how about some cute dangley earrings? Try some colored eye shadow and pluck your eyebrows? If you have any stray chin/facial hairs, pluck them, too, but be careful not to get too carried away. Only change your appearance if YOU want to; not because someone else wants you to... we all have to be comfortable in our own skin and only you know what that is! Good luck! (and remember, as nurturing as our moms are, they can also be some of our worst critics! I'm a mom of 4 and I know this to be true.)

Look in the mirror, are you a Girl? You must be questioning your choices in wardrobe and hair. It is not too late to change this. My daughters have all gone through this. Heck, when I was 16, i was skater, all I wore was baggy clothes, ball caps, hightop tennishoes, and black eyeliner! My hair was always a mess, and my nails were even worse. My future husband at the times, thought I was the cutest thing in the world. Don't worry, if it doesn't bother you, just be sure of who you are. Be prepared to learn a lesson in life though,...Here it is...your appearance really does matter, when it comes to the type of people you want to attract whether it be for friendship, work, or romance. Change your outside, but be true to who you are on the inside.

We don't know what you look like. If she thinks you look like a guy, that's her problem and her fault. You got your looks from her, and she shouldn't be so shallow. Don't worry about her, just be yourself. DO NOT GET ANY PLASTIC SURGERY. e
