I'm from Canada, moving to the US. In class, they never heard of Canada, its next to the US. They don't know that Canada is a modern country. I have to learn all the states, and provinces, they don't know Maine was part of the United States.
They say ignorant questions, like:
Do you eat seals eyes and pengiuns?
Do you have to ride a dog sled to school?
Do you live in an igloo?
Do you speak Canadian?
Do you speak English?
Do you have a Mcdonalds in Canada?
Do you have cars in Canada?
Its so annoying that they don't know anyhting outside the United States, they never notice that Canada is like the US. We have fast food, modern cities, and we have malls. What happen to the educational system in the United States. They need to learn their geography.

No...many schools have a very good education. In, like, fourth grade (or younger) we had to learn the 7 continents, and we we know loads about Canada...But people really ask you all of those questions? Wow...Well, maybe their school doesn't have good education (or the kids are just ignorant).

That and a whole lot more. To me the problem is that every state in the US has become so litigious that every school is afraid to be sued or taken on by some 'well-meaning' group that feels the curriculum is improper for school age children. Teachers are afraid to teach and children are more resistant to learn. Education here has basically gone to 'hell in a hand basket' and it shows.

It's true, almost all Canadians know the capital of the U.S. Nobody knows the capital of Canda. For a college application in Florida the test asked "where do you live?" 20% of the applicants got that question wrong. e

i know how u feel. we learn geography, but so far we haven't learned anything about Canada yet. that's really weird though, becuz Canada is rite next to the US but so far we've learned only about our country and the other side of the world.

I don't think they are stupid or that the United States school system is stupid. I just think no one cares enough about Canada to be concerned one way or the other.
