Cute! The space shuttle has landed in California about 50 times, less than half of all missions. They always prefer to land in Florida (because it costs a lot of money to fly the shuttle back to Florida) but sometimes they can't - usually because of the weather, like this time. They have to land eventually, of course, so if the weather doesn't look promising in Florida for a few days, they'll try one of their alternate landing sites.
